It just ain’t Christmas until the ‘Morninks and Eveninks; I have Warnink’s’ advocat advert appears

Didn’t realise how much competitive mini-films from the big stores had become a thing.
I used to love the “I love a Babycham” adverts with the little fawn (or was it a chamois, thinking about it now?) when I was a child. Funnily enough, it didn’t turn me into a fizzy wine lover!

I'm not usually a fan of high budget Christmas ads but I think the Aldi ad is witty and clever. Love Marcus Radishford it reminded me of all the old Morecambe and Wise punny name-changing jokes.

Do look out for it, Mapleleaf, it's excellent!

I’m finding quite a few of the Christmas ads quite saccharine and once more encouraging excessive consumerism. However, I did like the Aldi advert last year, though haven’t seen this years yet, so can’t comment on it.

Big ads are something we do not have here at Christmas, not sure the Belgians would be very happy at their money being used for advertising rather than lowering prices.
Also we do not get ads until after the 4th of December, even decorating shops is out unless they apply and pay for a special license.
Christmas is in December and that's it.

I agree. The best so far this year. I like searching the background because there is always something happening. This year Cuthbert is being arrested by 2 sour lemons. Very funny.

Zoejory, thank you. I have just wasted spent time, watching the McD........s Christmas ads that go back a few years.
Lovely.

I really love it. No people just vegetables. So much better than that awful JL ad. The MacDonald one is also very good.

It's a lovely advert. Best of 2021 so far. Oh, and the MacDonalds one is rather sweet as well.

As for Fairytale of New York .. the minute that song is played it is switched off. Can't stand it! Never have done.

Here is MacDonald's offering

Clever - but seeing all the food (dead bodies) then 'For you to be happy, you need to be kind' - is just typical. What messages do children get?

Gingster Mon 15-Nov-21 08:41:47

It’s lovely ?

Daisymae Mon 15-Nov-21 08:35:58

I liked it too, actually felt in the spirit of season!

I love it especially the fab Marcus Radishford shouting "Happy Christmas Kevin!" It's very knowing (the arrest of Cuthbert) but in a sweet, joyous way and just makes me smile.grin
Definitely evokes the spirit of Christmas and even makes a die-hard "it's too soon, the dekkies should only go up on Christmas Eve" stick in the mud like me want to get cracking.

When I was younger it was when the Old English sherry and famous Grouse adverts that made it Christmas. When my children where young it was the coke cola Santa trunks advert. But much prefer Aldi's Kevin adverts. It's only 6 weeks away. All ready done my Christmas shopping and presents all wrapped .

yggdrasil Mon 15-Nov-21 08:04:53

Our family has a tradition that Christmas starts when you hear Fairytale of New York played (unexpectedly) So that's that :-)

Bridie22 Mon 15-Nov-21 07:01:29

Always my favourite Xmas adverts, this years is brill ?

Ive just watched the Christmas Ad from Aldi and it is truly lovely the best one yet, much better than JLs which I think wasnt very good at all. Love Kevin the carrot and Ebanana and they had Marcus Rachford( radish) and Cuthbert the Caterpiller getting arrested by sour lemons so clever. I feel quite Christmassy now.
