Yes thanks NannaGarra, JL mailed me to say they now have stock so the crackers are on the way to me. I know it’s not mega important, but after a tough few years I want to make this a happy fun occasion with some nice treats.

👍

Thank you Blossoming - I get the picture now 🙂 Very pretty they look too.

One year I bought some inexpensive crackers and put a gift inside each. Pens, a lipstick, personalised photo of gcs on key ring, into named cracker. They loved them.

These crackers are made from recyclable materials and no plastic tat.

They are little rings with charms and beads, designed to slip round the stem of wine glasses so you know whose is whose. Very handy at parties.

They look nice Blossoming but what exactly is a 'wine charm'??

Why not make your own crackers, there are lots of kits available online. That way, the contents you include can be pertinent to the “oldies” pulling the crackers.
I’ll admit I’ve never made my own so don’t know how well they would turn out.

I’ve made my own the past. I’ll try to remember what I put in them.

John Lewis came up trumps with the perfect answer.

Some shops sell ready made crackers that are empty ready for you to fill. Pretty sure I saw some in the Oxfam shop.

They usually say what’s inside on the box nowadays.

I’ll never forget my SIL’s father watching me open a cracker one Christmas that contained what I think was a pen but whatever it was it looked like something else. He laughed and said ‘you must have the Ann Summers cracker’. It still makes me chuckle.

Waitrose had the perfect answer but I don’t have an account! I have a JL account but they’re out of stock there, I’m on a notify list.

Thanks everyone, if JL don’t come up trumps I have other ideas now.

Have a look on Amazon at Tom Smith crackers - they're very good quality.

I don’t have the manual dexterity to make my own, I’m afraid.

We used to make our own for years - it took a bit of practice but it was worth it when we had a large family congregating at Christmas. We named the crackers and made sure they had something in suitable for the recipient. Not sure it's worth the effort for a couple of crackers unless you're very crafty.

It may be possible to unwrap and rewrap bought crackers to replace the contents.

Crackers are half price in Waitrose just now…..

And, of course, John Lewis too.

Can anyone recommend some decent crackers for an ‘oldies’ lunch get-together? Preferably recyclable and no plastic tat.

I daren’t Google ‘adult Christmas crackers’ grin
