Unusually I have no interest this year.
Finished food shopping this morning. Turkey will be collected on Christmas eve. Presents/cards have been posted and received to family.

Thankfully we don't have any visitors this year so don't have to make an effort

First time in 63 years I've felt like this

Possibly less stressful Ziplock so you’re less frazzled and anxious about everyone ‘getting on’? A friend of mine dreads it. The family all still gather at hers (unlike me she hasn’t relinquished that baton!) and it starts off well enough but the grandchildren get over-excited, tired then techy and there’s always one of her brood who has one 🍷 or 🍺 too many, words get said, cannot be unspoken, feelings get hurt, someone cries and someone else gets up and goes home.

It’s a shame if this happens at any 🎄 gathering isn’t it? All the planning, the high expectation. It doesn’t always pan out.

Well, it was all sorted. We were off to Bristol on Sunday for a week to spend Christmas with DD2.

But I was taking my granddaughters to swimming locally at 5.30 pm and I tripped up the pavement, preventing my head from crashing into the ground. At the same time the right knee came down in a wallop. I heard a great crack! I won’t go into all the details but by 10 the ambulance had arrived and took me to hospital.

This morning post X-ray I was told I’d broken my kneecap horizontally and my sodium levels were very low.

I’m now waiting to go to a ward and have more tests for the sodium. The consultant will look at the X-ray tomorrow to see if I need an operation and hopefully I’ll be fitted with a leg brace.

It’s just Sod’s Law. All was going so well. Tickets were purchased, cheese sent and chocolates ordered. I’m now going to send most of the presents down by post after Christmas.

The ambulance crew were wonderful. The staff at the hospital have been really great at caring for me. My daughters have been messaging and a granddaughter even sent me a message to keep her informed of progress.

We had a particularly manic few days last Thursday to Monday, visiting faraway relatives, so I’d been busy getting ahead before then, so - unusually for me - most of it’s done.
Today was the first for what seems ages with nothing special to do.

So in addition to feet up on the sofa with my Kindle, I have made a dozen mince pies (half the pastry is in the fridge for more) and knitted half the trunk of the hand puppet to go with my Big Pink Elephant for Knit for Nowt. 🙂🎄

All done here. Just picked the DGC up from school for the last time, they’re very excited.

My dil is taking me out for afternoon tea tomorrow bless her, then we’ve a Christmas Day out on Sunday to a light show. Feel like I can relax a bit now . Hope everyone has the best time possible.

Presents wrapped, grocery delivery Monday and farm shop at 7am, which I love doing, gammon defrosting to cook Sunday or Monday.
We’ve the grandchildren staying tonight, not littlies now at 12 and 17, but they still like our traditions and will be here on the day 🎄🎄🎄

Going to DD & family for Christmas but a fair bit of driving first. It'll be lovely but looking forward to being at home just DH & me for New Year, both feel at just about 80 that it's all a bit of a hassle! Still keep going as long as we can, Merry Christmas & a Happy Healthy New Year everyone xx

Tesco was very busy this morning but the staff were lovely, helpful and cheerful.
I really wouldn't want to be working in a supermarket at Christmas; I did it for a few months, including the Christmas period, many years ago as a necessity and it's exhausting.

Absolutely no interest, not helped by having a dreadful cold/flu bug that put me in bed for three days.
I made DH write a few cards and post them, I have Ocado delivering a few bits and that is that.
It’s my birthday tomorrow and I honestly couldn’t care less.

Mostly sorted. My son is hosting for Christmas day and we are having Boxing Day dinner at our favourite pub so I won't be doing any catering.
I've already had a Christmas dinner with some of my family. It's mainly about spending time with them rather than food and presents.

Storm-trooping about in Booths at 8am today - now all done and dusted, so tomorrow I can be smug whilst I imagine the chaos in the shops on Super Saturday.
But will feel a bit sorry for the shop staff as they get the sharp end of some customers rudeness all year round. Surely it must multiply at Xmas, as must shoplifting - with violence.

All done, but the washing machine died yesterday……So we need to brave the masses and get a new one.

Feeling guilty as I haven't sent cards and haven't explained why either. I'm actually giving to charity the money I would have spent. Just hoping nobody notices I've missed them this year.

The whole thing is a complete pain in the dooh-dahs.

Wish it was 1st January

i don't bother with christmas but still have obligations, presents all sorted in july, cards all purchased from funky pigeon at the start of the month, shopping for one delivered this morning, christmas day will be spent in my pj's eating salmon and cucumber sandwiches watching youtube and reading my kindle....perfect day for me.

Everything sorted , time to sit back and relax.
