Nearly time to make sure I’ve got enough jars…

I have one very large kilner type jar that my mincemeat goes into.

I then give it to DD who has beautiful light hands with pastry. Her Christmas task is to make the mince pies and then return any remaining mincemeat for use in other recipes.

I've had homemade mincemeat 2 years old and it was still fine! I keep it in a cool shed as once when it was in a warm place it started fermenting! I often mix with apples - mincemeat and apple tart is lovely with ice cream and less fiddly to make than pies.

I'm busy collecting jars for pickled onions 😂 I still have mincemeat left over from last year plus a huge Nigella Christmas pud 😋😋

I also make Delia's mincemeat. I have one jar left over from last year and intent to eat it soon.
No idea about cranberry sauce!

Mum used to make Delia's mincemeat. I used one once that was 2 years old. Just added some Brandy to it.

Everyone in the family and friends used to love it. She gave many jars away.

How long does it keep? Just found a big jar from last year, still unopened, hopefully all right, and also how long does home made cranberry sauce with port in a sealed jar last?

…for Delia’s 🎄mincemeat!
And memo to self, I need a new citrus zester. Current one is getting very blunt.
