What would you treat yourself to if you had a spare £100 to buy yourself something nice? A nice sweater, perfume or something else?

NB; Re the tv and its aerial. I can't recall the exact price of sorting the situation out - as I had to pay the tv guy to do the booster and new aerial in loft bit and he refused to get the old aerial down from the roof (it's a bungalow!!!!) and I had to get "another workman" (who turned out to be my plumbers young apprentice) to shimmy across the roof and take down the broken old aerial. Between the two of them I "think" it cost me about £225.

Well, I;d probably have to put more money to it , But I'd buy a new telly...one where the picture doesn't crack up when there's a strong wind..

Is it the tv itself or the tv aerial that is the problem?

I've got a standard (probably considered old-fashioned style) tv and had a traditional type tv aerial on the roof when I bought this house. Cue for a recent particularly bad storm and it messed up my tv reception totally.

What it was was the roof aerial had been broken by the storm and I needed a new aerial. Someone suggested my replacement one be inside the loft and with a booster on it. Cue for that's what I had done and I need an adjacent electric socket to my tv one (for that booster). Fortunately I have that. So that's what I have now.

At least it doesn't now matter to me what the wind in this area gets up to - as my replacement tv aerial can't be "got at" by it.

So your tv is probably perfectly okay per se - but do check out your aerial.

I don’t need anything, I’d increase my donations to local charities.

Well it’s the thought that counts dogsmother 🤗

Karmalady, well done! We all need to try and live a little bit more for the day, tomorrow doesn’t always come for some of us.

Oreo, how lovely would that be, to spread largesse and make everyone happy with real random acts of kindness and generosity.

A really good meal out - a luxury level one.

We do have a "quality" restaurant nearby - which I've been to once as a treat (I treated a friend and myself) and I think the meal probably came to not far short of £150 (with her barely drinking - as she was driving). Wouldnt mind going there again.

Quality place...quality food....and they change the menu regularly (hates to go in somewhere and think "Right - avoid the meat to start with - as I don't eat that" and choose from the rest of the menu and it's the "same old same old" - as they just don't change the menu). I want variety/fashionable/good quality.

MiniMoon

Yarn. I never have enough.

Probably me too. I’ve already got a massive stash, but stocking up never comes amiss. G I’d probably add a load of stuffing, I get through masses of that.

Oh dear, I don't need anything, I would bank mine! Andrew and Sarah note!

Casdon Wed 05-Nov-25 10:22:56

I’d treat myself to a Haws Warley Fall watering can, I’ve got a large one already, but I would love a smaller one for seedlings too, they are the best.

My "windfall" is my £200 WFA and I'm spending it on my Eurostar ticket for a weekend in Paris later this month.
Thank you Rachel from Accounts!

I'd use it to pay for a terrific lunch out with friends. I love the feelgood factor of having a laugh with old friends and would prefer that to 'things' .

Was that Mui Mui ( or Miu Miu) Karmalady?
I would buy perfume and a couple of books if there was money left over.

La vie est belle and best price was at boots, a black friday deal

Esmay Wed 05-Nov-25 09:16:09

There's a Botany book that I'd really like .
I think that it's about £60 plus postage .

If you’re thinking of treating us all, then thanks in advance 🤭

I read this thread and stopped dithering. I have actually pressed the button an some perfume, I had a mini trial spray and several people said how lovely it was and I loved it

The remainder? I will spend that on a couple of prime videos to watch over the Christmas break
