I wrote this a couple of years ago originally the month before Christmas - but I’m not so well- organised this year! tchgrin]

Twas the month before Christmas
And throughout the land
We've started our shopping
With help from broadband
The toys come from Argos, the clothes from JL
Cos shopping in person
Is the Ninth circle of Hell
There's a jumper for DH, for SIL, gin
But where should they leave it
If I am not in?
I sit up with Amazon ordering books
For cyclists and sports fans
And children and cooks.
My cash card is tingling, the urge is still there
Without M&S or Ocado
I haven't a prayer.
In the shops like those jingle bells
The cash tills will ring
But here by the fire I am spared all that thing
Of jostling and crowds and nowhere to park
Then driving back home in the cold and the dark.
I love Christmas shopping, the spirit is here
And as I'm not driving, don't stint with the cheer wine
But where would I be - I would weep I would frown
If my nightmare should happen
My wi-if was down? ???

Rosie, that is magic....and so true, I used to watch those xmas films, where all the smiley people walked through the snow on xmas eve buyig presents....that would be my worst nightmare.
I bought all my presents without leaving my chair (computer chair )

Love it !! Resonates here too !! My enjoyment of traipsing round shops waned many years ago Now its fireplace, coffee and google. And just another old lady not getting in the way of the busy bargain hunters in the wild

Love it.

As a teenager, I adored Christmas shopping. In those days, no-one (apart from children) wrote lists and I loved that. Choosing the right gift for someone I loved was better in my eyes, than receiving presents myself.
Now, lists are expected, even requested, and I think that has taken some of the magic from it.

Fantastic - very clever.

Just 4 presents to buy this year, all for under 2’s.Two from Mammas and Pappas and two from a company online called My Early Years.
I am happy with them all.
My 20somethings GC like money as do my 2 teens .
Gift vouchers from favourite stores for AC. No longer buy for friends and I am no longer in touch with any extended family.
Actually few alive now.
Out for lunch on Christmas Day. Drinks bought and snacks ordered for callers in, expected to be very few, just Christmas Eve briefly.
I am so happy with things as they are now, I did it all for years and enjoyed it but don’t miss it at all.
Happy planning to you all and don’t stress, it will all be ok.

I'm fed up already. Got a list from parents of what to buy for grandchildren. That's good went online n ordered a few things including a pink fluffy blanket. Parents then wanted pictures of what I bought. OK sent pictures. The blanket is the wrong shade of pink!!! It won't match the headboard! How can you match something in colour what you buy online? It's pink fgs. It got worse. Female parent wanted earrings for Xmas. I've never worn or bought earrings in my life. So I sent money and messaged buy your earrings as you might not like what I picked out. I got a sad face emoji in return! Couldn't I just buy something else from their list? Entitled much. I'm ill with a flu like virus atm as is OH and they know this. So fed up.

At the risk of sounding a misery, I would like to put in a plea for local independent shops, if you still have them.
I'm as guilty as the next elf for ordering online, but I do visit my High Street to support local businesses.
If we do not do this, then the consequences will be a row of nail bars, estate agents and hairdressers.
I do understand that for those with limited mobility, Amazon is wonderful, but..

I can only get out if someone takes me so online shopping is a boon and a necessity.
I should love to go out and about and choose, also enabling me to support local shops but I can’t.
I do however support local restaurants in the evening whenever I can.
