I breastfed my daughter exclusively at the start, I fed from one side, and she had a huge scrambled egg poo that leaked through her clothes, not thinking I just got her washed and changed, mid doing that a courier came, dd was clean, I was I. Pj's covered in poo with a boob hanging out, I only just noticed the boob as I had the door half open and shrieked! Poor guy kept out if his skin!!

Unfortunately I don't have a story to tell as my 1st baby is due in November!

I caught (and photographed) my husband once when he was on feeding duty with our eldest son. He was wearing his full face crash helmet as he recently successfully taught the baby to blow raspberries. His whole visor was splattered with baby food - that taught him !!!

We were sat In a coffee shop one afternoon when my best friends baby started to stir. She put down her hot chocolate and reached into the bag pulling from it a bottle. The man in the shop supplied a large cup of hot water and she placed the expressed bottle into it. By this time, little Charlie had realised he was hungry and wanted everyone to know about it! Suz passed him out of his chair to me to comfort while she finished warming the bottle. We carried on talking about something or other and Charlie settled. A few moments later Suz started really laughing and when I looked down Charlie was trying to feed from my Breast, and as I had a cream blouse on was left with a wet circle on left boob! Everyone around was in stitches - except the slightly embarrassed man in the coffee shop :-)

While camping in the South of France the children had been watching the ants with the dropped food our youngest had been feeding herself with the normal dropping of food. After lunch I changed her nappy to find several ants had found their way into it.

My partner using expressed milk that was left in the fridge on his cornflakes... he said it tasted a bit odd

I was having a go at feeding my DGS DD's expressed milk to see if he would take it in a bottle. I warmed it up, sprinkled a few drops onto my wrist to test the temperature, then instinctively licked it off.
It did not worry me at all. She'd drunk mine so I drank hers!

Nelliemoser Tue 12-Aug-14 18:16:18

Mind you DD only ever fed DGS her milk untill he was 6,months. A fancy bottle sterilizing kit was never needed, just the odd bottle if she was going out. So why are Tommy Tippee promoting bottle feeding to grannies?

After some weeks of breastfeeding of my newborn son, I eventually had the confidence to discreetly breastfeed him outdoors.

As I am sitting in my garden on a glorious day, my next door neighbour (male) was weeding his garden and spotted us.

As he made his way towards us smiling, he leant in close to my chest to look at my son saying how bonny he was.....after a few seconds I saw his face drop in horror/embarrassment and he asked if I was feeding.
I answered I was and he shot off sporting a very crimson coloured face! He said something about being very sorry for being intrusive and that he thought I was just holding him!

He is such a lovely man and we always have a good laugh about that day! smile

Grandson was breast fed for first 6 months; currently being weaned and also taking night time feeds.

He stays over with me a few times each month and has taken well to Gran giving him his night time bottles.

Thankfully it is always late at night in the comfort of our own house as he just loves to dive down Grans top and seek out the breasts with his spare hand. shock Was a shock the first time it happened, considering that I am 67 years old, but now I wrap myself in one of my daughters silk scarves as he loves the feel and smell of mummy. smile

When I was breast feeding my daughter I went to the clinic to tell them that after her 10pm feed I was having an enormous amount of trouble waking her at 2am. She was totally content to sleep through the night. Thanks to Dr. Spock I followed the instructions to a T. Must have the 2am feed. Also stopped breastfeeding as my mother-in-law came to visit just after I had fed her and insisted my breast were too small and she must be starving. I put her on the bottle!

My mum had her third baby, my younger brother, at the age of 41. The family was living in East Africa at the time and it was very hot and though she had breast fed me and my other brother for about a year she was unable to feed the new baby after the first couple of months. She was advised to use Carnation evaporated milk diluted with boiled water as this was more easily available than formula and less likely to get infested with insects etc. ( It was all a while ago!) I remember hoping against hope that each feed time that my baby brother would not finish his bottle so that I could have the dregs of the Carnation 'cream'.
Just to let you know that baby is now 52 and is fit and healthy and not overweight! Just saying!

Like his big sister, my son, now 30, was breastfed. Along with the usual embarrassments of wet patches appearing on clothing, I have one memorable tale...

Son cut his first teeth at the age of three months which made breastfeeding him an often painful experience. My ex husband thought this extremely funny; watching me grip the chair or headboard with white knuckles and trying not to yell as the teeth went in.

One warm Saturday afternoon I was busy cooking, our little son was still fractious after his feed but had been put down for a nap. The ex was in bed after night duty, trying to catch a few zzz's. I heard him talking to the little one and then things seemed to quieten down.

Suddenly there was a massive AAARGH! from the bedroom, followed by expletives. I ran in with floury hands. Son had discovered lying on Dad's chest that Dads had nipples too and clamped on with a mighty bite.

The shock of Daddy yelling didn't make son cry and release though, it made him grab handfuls of Dad's chest hair and hold tight...

I'm only slightly ashamed to say that I laughed so hard I wet myself.

It was my first baby, 1980, and I had chicken pox and so too did my newborn daughter, she was extremely sickly with it so the hospital decided to keep us both in. She was feeding well however, yet was bringing quite a lot back up every time, I was worried my daughter wasn't taking enough in & told my extremely large scary nurse this fact.
"What are you on about!" She barked. "ALL babies throw up! Don't be such a ninny and get back into bed and I will see to her!"
I was quite upset but got back into my bed where I had just fed my tiny newborn, and the nurse stormed in and picked up my tiny baby. I asked her to be careful and the Nurse glowered at me as though I was stupid! I was actually about to warn her as she undressed my daughter to check her over about the big feed she had just had, when there was no need to! As the nurse lifted my daughter up, my daughter gave a tiny cough and threw up the entire contents of her tiny stomach, pretty much straight into the mouth & eyes of this awful nurse. I actually felt my daughters bond with me at that second, and knew we would be very good friends.........lol

Does anyone remember the training cups that helped with the transition to normal drinking vessels -as opposed to the closed spout cups. I seem to recall them being called 'Doidy' cups. They were shaped cups with one edge being taller than the other - the idea being that baby/ toddler didn't need to tip the cup too far before reaching the fluid inside. Well one day DH was running late for an interview - dressed in his best suit and tie, he decided he needed to take a couple of headache tablets and yes you've guessed- he picked up the nearest drink of Ribena, which happened to be in DD Doidy cup, which he invariably tipped up as normal resulting in a rather stained white shirt!

he phoned in sick for the interview!!!!

My first child, a daughter, was in special care for the first week of her life, I was given a machine so that I could express milk, spent ages on it and trotted off to the unit very pleased with myself with a small amount of " breastmilk " only it turned out to be water/cleaning fluid that was used to clean the pipes through.................never did manage to produce anything :-)

I used to dread giving my Daughter Spag bol even though it was one of her favourites. She would turn herself into an Umpa Lumpa in a matter of minutes. Of course being a lovely Mum I made sure that I have photographic evidence to show off when she is older :-) x x

My son was a terror to feed as a baby. We found the only way to get him to eat was to sing that song from Pinnochio that goes, "I've got no strings to hold me down...." Whoever was on feeding duties would have to perform the chorus repeatedly to induce John to open an appreciative mouth to receive each spoonful. Fortunately this phase soon passed before our vocal chords gave up and all our neighbours moved house!

My grandad was bouncy our baby on his lap and the zooming him into the air above his head sounding weeee! I told him to be gentle he'd just been fed, which he choose to ignore. You can guess what happen, up in the air, weeeee, mouth wide open, baby sick straight into grandads mouth! He didn't do it again in a hurry x

I was feeding my 6 week old daughter (many years ago) and she projectile vomited over my shoulder all over her granddad, who was just getting ready to travel back home!!! All clothes had to be taken off, his, mine and Julia's!!!! Needed a little op which sorted that!

When I was a tiny baby In the fifties I brought all my feeds back up again. My mum went to see the health visitor who at that time was called the green lady and all the mums were scared of her. She said my mum was being ridiculous and she would show her the proper way to feed me. After she had finished giving me my bottle she winded me and I threw up the whole bottle all over her. I think I made every mums day, week and year in the clinic that day. It took doctors 28 yrs to discover I had cystic fibrosis and that's why as a baby I failed to keep down my milk.

My daughter with her 4 month old baby crept downstairs one cold night to make up a feeding bottle. When baby had started to feed my daughter noticed a humungous spider on the counter top at which she roared upstairs for her sleeping husband to come down. When he saw the spider he started a highland dance causing the baby to have a funny reaction where he spat the teat out and started laughing hysterically at his dads antics. Hysteria all around until the spider was safely caught and dispatched outside. When told about this story I too had a fabulous laugh about the night time dramatics.

I breastfed my daughter for 9months but towards the end was also using a bottle which spilt all over my inlaws bed cover! Those were the days when you went upstairs to feed so 'not to offend'!!! The good old days yeah!

We decided to go into a fish and chip restaurant for lunch on a weekend outing when my eldest daughter was about 10 months old. She fed herself a few chips as finger food and also had her baby food main course and a yoghurt then finished it off with a bottle of milk. All of a sudden she let out a loud burp and projectile vomited everything up all over the table, our meals, the floor, herself, the highchair and us it was awful and the smell was bad too. We were so embarassed, she virtually cleared the restaurant in no time at all.
