There is clearly a pattern to doing these competitions.
Mnemonics and poems seem to feature large.

I had to look mnemonic up to spell it and could only just get a near enough go at the spelling for Google to recognise it.

An active Granny I aim to be,not a doddery OAP

The GRAND in grandparent is the code we all stand by:

Give
Reliable
Advice (but)
Never
Disapprove

We could place bets on whether it will be an oldie or a newbie?

hildajenniJ Fri 05-Sept-14 19:45:02

It's just GRAND being a Granny to four of the nicest people I know. The boys come with baggage and sometimes it's a struggle, but little arms hugging saying "Granny don't go" when it's time to leave makes all the hassle worthwhile. I love them, they love me, what else do we need.

mollynellie Fri 05-Sept-14 19:42:51

When they put their arms around you and say "you're the bestest nanny in the world. Can I have a cup of tea please?" I just can't refuse!

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 05-Sept-14 19:42:04

I'd like the diamonds please. Would it run to a nice bracelet?

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 05-Sept-14 19:41:22

Oh, I hope we get entered just for posting! I've had several goes now. grin

NfkDumpling Fri 05-Sept-14 19:29:27

Soo, do I actually have to give a reason why I love being a gran? Or do we get automatically entered just for posting?

For what it's worth, I never expected to be a gran. Tuition fees, mortgages, low pay, meant babies were put on the back burner for so long they nearly didn't happen. So being a gran for me is just mind blowingly bloomin' fantastic! (And can I have the spa treatment please)

Grannylin Fri 05-Sept-14 18:57:56

Love'em and leave'em, that's what's grand!

nannilynne Fri 05-Sept-14 18:43:40

It's just Grand being a Gran,
See the Children when you can;
See them Smile as you Read & Play
Makes for a very enjoyable Day.
The good bit though , when day is done
Hand them back over to their Mum!!

It's grand to be able to be a better grandparent than parent.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 05-Sept-14 18:15:59

It's got to be that Aka.

Money attracts money.

It makes me feel Grand to have so many (9) little ones to love.

rjs19561 Fri 05-Sept-14 17:30:46

To instill glorious memories that will live with them beyond us and will be cherished in their own "Grand Years"

Flowerofthewest Fri 05-Sept-14 17:17:41

Hi Nelliemoser I enter quite a few competitions on here but only if interested in the prizes. Like you I love the banter too much just to do only the competitions. Good luck with your entries though x

janerowena Fri 05-Sept-14 17:09:40

After all, competitions have been a bit thin on the ground lately, haven't they.

janerowena Fri 05-Sept-14 17:09:12

Aka I suspect so!

durhamjen Fri 05-Sept-14 16:22:42

I never knew any of my grandparents. So what's grand is that I can do anything I like with my four grandchildren, and their parents cannot complain.
They do, of course. They say, "We weren't allowed to do that when we were their age!"
To which the obvious response is that that was when I was being a mother.
Being a grandmother is completely different.

RosemaryAnne Fri 05-Sept-14 16:09:50

The GRAND to me is the marvellous fun you can have with your grandchildren whereas perhaps you couldn't have so much when you were a parent due to time and money restraints. It is also wonderful to have your grandchildren for a few days knowing that you can give them back at the end! Seriously though, it is so nice to be able to spend time and see the world through their eyes rather than your own, sometimes jaded, view.

Nelliemoser Fri 05-Sept-14 16:05:48

Aka How could you possibly be so cynical. wink

lucyann Fri 05-Sept-14 16:02:55

Being able to have all the fun and chatter and being able to give them back when you are tired fab all the good bits and none of bad
