Its grand to be able to hep nurture them, to influence them, and to stand in when they fall out with their parents.
Its also grand to see the behaviour that your own children displayed that drove you up the wall is now being displayed by your grandchildren and the parents find it as hard going as you did

Nothing Grander than being there, for whatever the reason.

All of the fun stuff with none of the stress smile

It's just the pure pleasure of seeing things through young eyes - their sheer delight in discovering the world and their ability to be in the moment and enjoy simple pleasures. And their unconditional love and trust.

I feel Grand knowing the love I gave to my son is now a part of my grandchilds life but exponentially! smile

Of coarse all the fun stuff like spoiling and playing with them. But the Grandest joy as a Grandparent is seeing your son/daughter or yourself in them. I even see my own Grandparents characteristics in my Grandson. Being reminded that you are a part of that new generation is really Grand.

The joy of spending time with little people again. Only this time you're not in charge so you get to focus on the fun without any of the worries that come with parenting.

G :- Great

R:- Real

E:- Entertaining

A:- Adventurous

N:- Nice

D:- Delightful fun

As Grand-Parents are experienced, have time, patience, love and understanding for the little ones. The whole family can share in the joy of a little one in the family. Whilst the little one basks in all the love, attention and fun exploring the world whilst being protected by experienced loved ones :- Family.

A Grandparent gives their ear to a child- Grandchildren tell Grandparents their secrets and know they will not squeal- it's a matter of love and trust and holding each other in a special place in their heart.

the grand into grandparent.... It's all about having the time to enjoy your grandchildren without having the stress of parenting and the everyday things that go with it and the plain and simple fact you can learn from your own methods of parenting

A Grand = 1,000 and Grandparents can give 1,000 reasons why they feel honoured and grateful for being one.

The Grand tales you can tell them about the 'olden day' and seeing just how huge their eyes get as the stories get bigger and bigger.

The most beautiful piano is a grand.
To make a fabulous entrance is grand.
To have a good time is grand
So it's no surprise that the parent who has achieved greatness, through maturity, experience, and great love over the years is called a Grandparent. .

The weekend sleepovers. They're fab

auckers1 Thu 02-Oct-14 13:48:27

There's a thousand ways we love to say
Of course we'll help, we're on our way.
A thousand times we'll hold our tongue
Because of things we'd not have done
A thousand times we'll pause and say
It wasn't like that in our day.
But we all know blood is thicker than water
And we'll do anything for our GRANDdaughter.

madmonster33 Thu 02-Oct-14 13:32:13

the ability to give them back at the end of the day, covered in muck, hyped up on sweets, full of cuddles, and having had a great day and know you aren't the one who has to calm them down get them to bed and do it all again the next day is wonderful: but the glass of wine and the relaxing with a book at bedtime with that knowledge is the truly grand thing.

Carrying on a conversation with an 18 month-old, where he is blissfully unaware that you can't understand a word he's saying.

Grand for babysitting and reading books and listening to them reading their own school books!

Grand for taking them out for days away

Grand for taking them to school and nursery

Grand for being able to enjoy the things we did with our own children - walking - swimming - meeting up with friends at playbarn - icecream palours - playgrounds - seeing National Trust properties with new eyes - adventures in the country - the list is endless - but it keeps us young and interested in the next generation.

All good fun and very entertaining after the initial hard work when very young babies and toddlers.
