It means to able to re-visit all the childhood places that we took our sons too..as it gives me an excuse to have fun with them :-) Plus I've far more patience than I did and this means I can cope calmly with the usual kiddie squabbles that they inevitably have. Plus you have a back up plan for when you've had enough..you can return them to mum and dad till the next time lol

I looked forward so much to being a grandmother and can hardly believe that the reality is even better than I dreamt it would be. When I looked into my grandsons’ eyes on the days they were born, it was as if we already knew each other. And now I envy nobody - nothing in this world could make me happier than a house full of family and my arms full of grandbabies.

I love making my grandkids laugh, being silly and not laughing at them, but laughing with them. Listening to their problems, no matter how silly. I am just grandma to them, always willing to have them sleep over, and keep them safe.

Being constantly amazed - and proud:
When I watch our little ones grow and develop their own personalities....
When I admire their mums' (and dads!) skills and patience in developing their little ones...
When I see my now-retired hubby (a former high-powered MD) on his knees playing with, or chasing, them, catching up on his precious time lost on play with their mums....
When I listen to my partially sighted 87 year old mum and my disabled 56 year old brother singing nursery rhymes with them......
Yes, life is certainly GRAND for this GRANDma!!!!!

being there no matter what and being fun

Grand is not getting stressed out by their temper tamtrums like mum and dad do. Being calm, patient, reasonable and teaching them good behaviour. It's being able to spoil them just a little. It's having fun with them when mum and dad are too tired too. It's being on hand to look after them when mum and dad are at work.

My nanna was my best friend & confidante, she was my world when I was a little girl and I think having a grandparent is crucially important to a child. I
