Attention all gransnetters, we're giving away a fabulous set of DVDs worth £199.42 courtesy of the lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox. The bundle includes a huge variety of films and television series such as Modern Family, Bones, The Fault in our Stars, The Book of Life and many more - perfect entertainment for all the family during a miserable month of April showers.

To be in with a chance of winning we want you to tell us which movie you would screen (and why) if you had your very own cinema for just one night. The more funny and outrageous the better. May the Force be with you all smile

*Congratulations trisher, you are the lucky winner. We LOVED the hilarious account of what you would have everyone do whilst screening South Pacific!*

Ice Cold In Alex - my Dad started his career in the Police as an ambulance driver and used to sit there muttering during the scene where they are getting the ambulance up the sand dune 'you couldn't do that'. He was always annoyed and we used to giggle about it.

I would screen "Gone With the Wind" because I have just finished reading "Ruths Journey" by Donald McCaig & it is a long time since I saw the film & this has given me a desire to re-watch the it.

I can think of no better way to brush up my French than by watching a double bill of Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources. I have a great affection for Provence and its charming villages. Each film is wonderful individually but if they are viewed back to back, Manon gives a deeper understanding of the background and themes of its predecessor. So I'm not being greedy wanting two - they have to be seen together.

IT'S A WONDERFULL LIFE - I find it very heartwarming every time I watch it!

kaizen99 Sat 21-Mar-15 21:25:49

I would screen Dark Star, a low budget, cult film that everyone can enjoy.

keshimonster1 Sat 21-Mar-15 21:28:26

i would screen Brigadoon as i love musicals and loved watching these films with my granpop and dad and it hasn't been on the tv for a long long time and would love for the younger generation to be able to see the magic of this film

Untouchable, even though it has sub titles you are so engrossed. It is funny, a little sad and sometimes a bit politically incorrect but the two main actors are amazing each in a different way.

fmonson Sun 22-Mar-15 16:45:07

I would screen a sing-along Sound of Music for all my choir freinds

biddymarie Sun 22-Mar-15 20:33:15

Nosferatu, followed by the hammer house of horror Count Dracula.
2 ends of the horror spectrum -scary stuff!

If I had my own cinema for just one night,
Which film would I choose to give me delight,
Where would I start, what would I like?
Comedy, romance or a horror filled fright,
How about a classic for my inner 80s child,
Like Willow or Legend or The Jewel of the Nile,
Mrs Doubtfire or Toys or The Princess Bride,
The Banger Sisters, maybe, oh how can I decide?
Too many great choices, I'm feeling bemused,
Try to think is giving me the Blues
I don't know, so I'll let my friends choose,
Because with 20th Century Fox, I know I can't lose!

sylwright Mon 23-Mar-15 21:29:42

there are so many films I would love to see at a private showing but I would have to choose Despicable Me 2, suitable for ages and enjoyed by everybody especially my toddler grandson.

The green mile greatest film ever made

Tegan Tue 24-Mar-15 14:38:18

Crikey; I'm going to have to think long and hard about this. Having read through the selection of films thus far can I just say that I bought Greyfriars Bobby on dvd to show the grandchildren recently and made a trip up to Edinburgh a couple of years back to see the kirkyard.I saw a newspaper cutting about Bobby in a shop last week but they wanted £70 for it which was more than I could pay, but I would love to have owned it. It's a Wonderful Life is screened at our cinema every Christmas and everyone claps at the end. And, yes, The Green Mile probably 'is' the greatest film ever made [and, sadly quite topical at the moment]. A film I can watch over and over again is Last of the Mohicans. And I'd like to choose a film that would appeal to all ages so the granchildren could watch it as well. However, I'm going to go with something I suggested at our cinema the other week, and that is that I'd love to see a couple of episodes of Game of Thrones on the big screen [it would stand up to that, I know] and I'd advertise it so that fellow fanatics could come and share the experience with me. Final answer [I think]. I'll spend the rest of the day thinking about this [and tittering at the thought of Teetimes family all dressed up as the Adams family and imagining a complete Gothfest when she shows it at 'her' cinema grin].

Bobbysgirl19 Tue 24-Mar-15 15:19:17

I would screen Bridget Jones's Diary. An extremely funny film with brilliant acting too.

There would be a complementary glass of Chardonnay for those who wanted it, just to get into 'Bridget' mindset!

However 'big Knickers' will be optional!

zbody Tue 24-Mar-15 16:57:12

The Man Who Came To Dinner - Its an early Bette Davis Comedy and still makes me giggle (the nurse in it was the grumpy nun in Sister Act !) . Its hardly ever shown and would love mates to see this movie I go on about .

ziggy2407 Tue 24-Mar-15 17:51:51

I'd get all my girlie friends and we'd watch "Dirty Dancing", swooning over Patrick Swayze and singing and dancing to the fabulous soundtrack
