Attention all gransnetters, we're giving away a fabulous set of DVDs worth £199.42 courtesy of the lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox. The bundle includes a huge variety of films and television series such as Modern Family, Bones, The Fault in our Stars, The Book of Life and many more - perfect entertainment for all the family during a miserable month of April showers.

To be in with a chance of winning we want you to tell us which movie you would screen (and why) if you had your very own cinema for just one night. The more funny and outrageous the better. May the Force be with you all smile

*Congratulations trisher, you are the lucky winner. We LOVED the hilarious account of what you would have everyone do whilst screening South Pacific!*

13 going on 30 - Mark Ruffalo desperately not wanting to do the Thriller dance and then really enjoying it is one of my favourite scenes of all time! And I really want to learn the Thriller dance too!

Guardians of the Galaxy - we are massive Marvel fans in our house and Guardians is my favourite one

The Avengers Assemble. Love the Marvel films as do my Hubby & son & we weren't able to see it at the cinema so to finally see it on a big screen would be brilliant.

It has to be The Producers. Who would have thought that a film about producing a musical 'Springtime for Hitler in Germany' could be so outrageously funny. The comic genius that is Mel Brooks that's who and the fantastic cast that he put together. I love it when my husband and two grown up sons sit down and watch this film together, they are all in tears of laughter, and there is no greater tonic in life than laughter.

I'd watch The Young and Prodigious T S Spivet in 3D. This film has completely thwarted my masterplan, I adored the book and waited for aaaaaages for it to come out as a film, really wanted to have the 3D blu ray version as a special treat. But when it came out it was such a high price I couldn't justify the expense so I've still not seen it.

LadyChelington Wed 25-Mar-15 11:30:19

Pretty Woman. I can't believe that film is 25 years old. Seems like just yesterday when I went to the cinema to see it!

Piggypoo Wed 25-Mar-15 19:23:18

I'd screen The Music Box, the old Laurel and Hardy movie, a real classic and still funny.

FroggisMcChann22 Wed 25-Mar-15 20:28:02

One of the most memorable experiences i have ever had of the cinema, was when i went to the pictures with my parents to see a 1975 classic. My mother screamed the place down in sheer fear, especially at the end. In fact, everyone was screaming, it was like a choir of screams. I was only 9!
Have you guessed what it is, 'You're gonna need a bigger boat', that's right JAWS!!

If i had a cinema to myself for a whole night, i would show the classic that is JAWS, in 3D, everyone would have to wear a shark fins and sing 'Duuuh Duuh, Duuuuh Duuuh'. And don't forget a cardigan to hide under, like my mother did!!! grin

It would have to be The Red Shoes with Moira Shearer. There is a legend in our family that I waved away an offered box of chocolates whilst watching this film at our local cinema in.....er....1948? Can that be right? I know I was only four at the time but totally mesmerised to the point that I began drifting down the aisle towards the screen until hauled back by my mother.

In the audience for my special screening would be my two ballet-mad little granddaughters and as many of their friends as they wished to invite. It would be quite a girly gathering so we would be served champagne and cupcakes before the start and ten flavours of ice-cream in the interval. Only a small amount of champagne for the little girls, though.

The Sound of Music smile I love this film and I know all the songs word perfect so I could impress the rest of the watchers with my singing too (although I have been likened to a drunken cat in the past)

Merrymaid Thu 26-Mar-15 18:40:55

For me it has to be "The Wizard of OZ" a classic movie for the family of all ages!

I have wonderful memories of watching this movie with my siblings and my Mother and Grandmother many years ago and I can't think of anything more wonderful than to sit down with my Daughters and Grandchildren and re-enact the same scenario. Popcorn or choc-ice anyone grin)

glammanana Fri 27-Mar-15 08:12:53

Mine would have to be Grease with the sound up high so my friends and I could jive up and down my lounge in our best dance frocks and enjoy the music of The Bee Gee's at their best.If you can't dance just get up and shake a leg,my downstairs neighbour may be annoyed by all the GNers noise but we are GNers and we are allowed. grin

It would have to be Rock Of Ages. Yes it's cheesy but oh so good! It is a great feel good movie with romance and brilliant songs. You can never be too old for a bit of karaoke and air guitar! grin

I'd like to show all the Norman Wisdom films. Back to back please.

And I'd sit my husband down and let him watch them - on his own. I can't see the attraction so I would have an evening to catch up with my sewing.

Thanks.

Anne1948 Tue 31-Mar-15 10:04:56

I would screen Performance.
My husband and I lived in London in the 'Swinging Sixties' and lived in Powis Square, Notting Hill.
One day when our sons were about 18/19 they were watching a film on TV.
Coming into the room I jokingly remarked it looked like their Dad on the screen followed by 'Oh, it IS your Dad!'
Yep, there he was walking down the street in full hippie regalia - permed hair, fur coat, beads, the lot!
We remembered some filming going on while we lived there but little did we realise Mick had a 'starring' role!
