As a child I loved the Beezer , out every Tuesday, I really looked forward to reading it, and occasionally it would have a free gift inside, a balloon or a whizzer. at Christmas if funds would stretch my mum would buy me the Beezer annual... I loved the smell of a new book.

I loved the Beano, Billy Whizz and The Bash Street Kids being my faves but then went on to 2000AD. Rogue Trooper had a strange but funny sense of humour that appealed to me

I liked the Rupert Bear Annual and especially all the competitions in the comics

I loved the buster comic

I was bought Jack and Jill followed by School Friend. My parents thought School Friend was 'suitable'! in my teens my pocket money didn't often stretch to magazines and comics, but I did buy Girl sometimes.

Beano for me

My parents didn't have money to buy us comics, but we read The Broons and Oor Wullie in The Sunday Post newspaper every week, and at Christmas always got a Broons or Oor Wullie Annual which we would read before breakfast. 'Maggie Broon' seemed a very glamourous character to me, and having 'weans' about the house would have meant always someone to play with. I probably would have liked to have been part of that big family as a child!
You sometimes got a bundle of old comics that someone else was finished with and that was great, so I did see the occasional Bunty, Beano and Dandy.

my mum bought me look and learn and diana every week.

When I reached double figures I used to read Mirabelle etc - ie the girly ones - but when younger I loved Wizard & Hotspur because they had lots of written stories as well as the picture stories so took longer to read - I was never very visual!

I loved the Beano and still do! The range of characters and stories was brilliant and Minnie the Minx was my all time favourite - totally related to her smile x

balloon666 Mon 18-May-15 13:58:13

I used to read a comic called 'Misty' (i think it was called that) I loved it because i thought it was more 'grown up' !

grands Mon 18-May-15 16:54:01

I read Jackie, it appealed to me :- suitable for my age at the time. Whilst I believe that sometimes there were nice free gifts with the magazine at times e.g. colourful bangle. As a family we also got the Beano etc, as we enjoyed the humour.
