On noticing the wrinkles on my face, my granddaughter asked what they were. I replied that as people get older, lines appear and jokingly said that they show wisdom and age. She replied, 'I don't think I'll bother'.

We were putting some flowers on a relative's grave a few weeks ago, I was talking away to my auntie and to my granddaughter. Her little face looked bewildered and she asked, "how does auntie Linda hear you, do you have to talk to through those holes over there?!" She was pointing to the vase to put flowers, bless her! My auntie would have had a good laugh at that!!

While out driving in the countryside, my grandaughter shouted "out why is that cow giving the other one a piggy back " too young to explain to her we just said they were playing a game. Gulp !!!!

My Grandaughter aged 6 asked 'Why can't Daddy have a baby'. (I replied in my head 'That's a question all women have asked!'). Needless to say, with Mum's permission, we discussed the differences between female bodies and male bodies!

BlueBelle Fri 22-Jul-16 19:48:30

My grandson was 6 when his Daddy died we did a lot of talking about Daddy being in heaven, soon afterwards they came to visit me which necessitated a short plane ride. when they were above the clouds he asked if Jesus lived there , he was told yes, he then said in a very loud voice ' can we go and visit Daddy in heaven' the man in the row behind said ' I Bl** hope not'

DGD aged 5 as I was dishing up the dinner-"Nanny, how do you make mashed potato?"
Me "You boil the potatoes then mash them down with milk and butter until they are smooth and creamy."
DGD, "Then why is mine full of lumps?"

Maggiemaybe Fri 22-Jul-16 17:34:20

After I'd raised expectations sky-high for grandad's conjuring prowess, two year old DGS2 watched agog as his penny went into the Abracadabra box, and then the box was opened with a flourish - empty! His face crumpled with disappointment.

"But where's the rabbit?" he wailed. "I wanted it to turn into a white rabbit."

Grandad has a bit of practising to do! grin

Me: How do you get away with being so naughty?
Six year old granddaughter: It's because I'm so cute Grandma!!

My grandson Barnaby and I were having a conversation about my parents. He wanted to know where my mum and dad were.

"They're both dead", I said.
"Why did they die?", said Barnaby.
"Oh, they were very old", I said. Silence from Barnaby, then he said -

"Are you dead granny?"

I had bought myself some multi coloured shoes which I thought were quite trendy. I showed them to my 5 year old granddaughter and asked her if she liked them. Her answer was to wrinkle her nose up and ask ' Did you make them yourself grandma'?
