It's that time of year again - and the launch of our Best reads for Christmas. Over £500 of fantastic books, fiction and non-fiction, great gift ideas for family and friends (and yourself - goes without saying)

Aaaaand - one very lucky person can win all the books featured on the page. To enter simply tell us what's on your Christmas wish list (it can be absolutely anything)

We will be picking a winner at random on 14 December - more details on the page

Health and happiness go without saying and peace throughout the world wouldn't go amiss either. Perhaps the death of all the violent men who wish to distort their communities/countries/the world, either for their own egotistical personalities or financial gain.....?

Or a big box of chocolates?

To find a special person and see more of my daughter.

We would like some Bobby Womack music so we can bop around the living room

Health and happiness for my loved ones is always top of my Christmas list with a little bit of both for me if there is any left over xx

Hmmm. How about a time machine, to rewind the year to pre-Brexit and pre-Trump? OTOH, then I wouldn't have met this rather nice man... Nah, OK, let's just go with peace on earth smile

I'd love a new laptop so I can Skype with friends and family and not be tied to this cumbersome old desktop. It'd help me to reconnect with others when I'm not head-down in a great book. =)

The only thing I pine for is an invitation to visit my son and his family in Australia. I haven't been for 3 years and there is a baby boy having his first birthday at Christmas, but I have yet to hold him in my arms. sad

Top of my wishlist for Christmas is the one thing I am guaranteed not to get sharing Christmas with a young family.. a flipping lie-in!! I'll cherish every minute of it though - even that moment when am torn from my slumber, groggy & eyes barely open, by a toddler leaping on my head.. smile

On my list would be;

Seeing my grandchildren

Book tokens
Zip up warm dressing gown
Something glam to wear
Perfume - something citrussy (Christalle? True Blue?)
A set of John Lewis Coast crockery
Nice shower gel

Peace on earth and fairness for disabled children and adults in the UK. Homelessness solved, everyone with a warm safe home.

I wish for health and happiness for all my family and friends- cheesy, but that's the most important gift of all.

I'd wish for some peace for my family,
My granddaughters genetic testing works out fine.
That next door stops drilling & banging about for at least a month
& Conrad Jones gets a new book written soonish !
other than that i'd like tickets to see Andre Rieu
Ahh a girl can wish !

Twilight123 Fri 25-Nov-16 17:53:28

Christmas Day with all my family, no arguments and an announcement of a grandchild on the way. Perfection.

Another dog after my dear old dog died last month. But not to be as totally impractical these days.

All I want for Christmas is a new front tooth & a couple of back ones too. Good health & happiness to all. I just wish that Christmas did not start so early in the year & that Black Friday did not exist.

My dream from very young was to have a room, it didn't need to be big, lined with books, a comfortable chair to curl up in, (and maybe a cushioned window seat with beautiful view) and an open fire. Still haven't achieved it and having had a massive decluttering session have got rid of so many books and use a kindle. BUT there is nothing like a real book you can pick up and dip into and above all share with family and friends. I am delighted that my DGD is turning out to be a book worm too and look forward to sharing books with her as she grows older as well as my book loving friends. So yes please to a box full of books and perhaps now that DH is almost retired he can make me some shelves. We have a wood burner, no lovely view - but that's ok I can be transported to so many different places through the book in my hands . . . dreaming again

Last xmas my dad took ill and we were told that he's terminal with cancer. We spent evyday traveling 52 miles ech way to visit dad in hospital. So Xmas never happened . This year all we want is to enjoy our Xmas together as a family. To treasure our precious time together no one knows how long anyone has.

I am the ultimate Christmas organiser so the thing I want most for myself is for everyone else to have a fabulous day and be happy with whatever Santa brings

My main wish this Christmas is that my son, a serving Marine Commando will be home for Christmas so that we can all be together. He now has a little girl who will be one at the end of December and seeing her smile and chuckle on Christmas morning will make it almost perfect, although A small, beautiful, unexpected gift would be the icing on the cake.

For my son to have a good year without his crohns disease flaring up again and having to be admitted to hospital.
For me, just having my family around me
