It's that time of year again - and the launch of our Best reads for Christmas. Over £500 of fantastic books, fiction and non-fiction, great gift ideas for family and friends (and yourself - goes without saying)

Aaaaand - one very lucky person can win all the books featured on the page. To enter simply tell us what's on your Christmas wish list (it can be absolutely anything)

We will be picking a winner at random on 14 December - more details on the page

Apart from a bumper box of books, my wishlist contains: a chauffeur-driven limousine to pick my parents up from their house and deliver them in style to mine, 50 miles away, on Christmas morning! That would be fun.

That my doctor son who travels all over the world training other doctors always returns safely to his family as he sometimes visits dangerous places. Today I am very relieved that he has come home from South Africa.

Peace for the world, I'm sure we all wish for that.

Christmas wishes and Christmas kisses
And somebody else to do the dishes!

Time to get fit on that new bike
And something stunning to wear for a Fbook like!

But as We can't all go to Cinderella's Ball
I'd settle for a wonderful time for one and all!

And if there was something just for me
I'd love that box of books under my tree!

Someone else to organise & cook Christmas dinner so I can relax for the first time in 30 odd years. That would be lovely!

I'd love a gardener to sort out the garden and/or a strimmer with a reel that doesn't keep snapping.

We are hoping to get food and drink items for Christmas. We have been saving hard as myself and my partner want to move in together in the new year, so anything we can have as a treat that we wouldn't normally but ourselves is so welcome and appreciated. Cheeseboards, chocs, fizzy champers or craft beer sets really give us a little treat that we have been scrimping on of late.

I'd like a windfall on the lottery so I could help my children to buy their own homes

I would like my 88yr old MIL not to stir up trouble on Christmas day. All the family to get on together. The Christmas dinner to cook perfectly and on time .Most of all to win all these books and have free time to read and enjoy them in 2017.

I'm trying to persuade my son to buy me some paving stones and some gravel for my garden. I am nearly 80 and have decided that my garden is to much work for me, so I have taken everything out of it and want to pave and gravel it, and the just have a border and pots.

My perfect Christmas present would be to wake up on Christmas morning, turn on the news and hear that there was a worldwide epidemic of love for all mankind.

mikey23 Mon 21-Nov-16 17:39:19

a Scalextric set! smallest set is good. Never had one as a child (boo hoo), now well into at least second childhood so it would be perfect!

josiew Mon 21-Nov-16 17:29:12

My dearest wish is health, happiness and good luck for my family. There is very little I need for myself.A cure for arthritis would be a big bonus!

Apart from that, the books would come a close 2nd.

I wish that my daughter - her partner and our wonderful baby granddaughter Alice have the most wonderful first 'family' xmas together. They have had a difficult path to parenthood and deserve a special Christmas filled with love and happiness.

Tryfan12 Mon 21-Nov-16 17:24:26

That everyone I know who is suffering from ill health has a much better 2017

Penstemmon Mon 21-Nov-16 17:22:04

A happy new year for everyone

Emptynester Mon 21-Nov-16 16:54:55

I would like all the family to get what they wish for, be it large or small, a house sale for one, a finished extension for the other, and health and happiness for all.

A reliable watch, as mine keeps stopping, and my timekeeping isn't great at the best of times. On reflection, maybe a decent Malt Whiskey instead would be better, because then I would still be able to blame my dodgy watch for being late!
