It's that time of year again - and the launch of our Best reads for Christmas. Over £500 of fantastic books, fiction and non-fiction, great gift ideas for family and friends (and yourself - goes without saying)

Aaaaand - one very lucky person can win all the books featured on the page. To enter simply tell us what's on your Christmas wish list (it can be absolutely anything)

We will be picking a winner at random on 14 December - more details on the page

I'm hoping to spend it like any other day for the first time in years (with maybe a chance to see my tiny granddaughter thrown in for good measure :-) )

A chocolate orange all to myself, without feeling guilty

I'd like my husband to feel well enough to read again. Books have always been his greatest pleasure and it is heartbreaking to see that he can no longer concentrate.

Stop all wars, bullying, hate all over the world. An impossible dream.

Slightly more possible though still improbable; -
Someone to cook my turkey etc., in my own kitchen
DH to give me anything at all [that I haven't purchased and wrapped]
To see all my children singly or en mass I don't mind during the Christmas season

I'd love to get a new computer but suspect I'll have to make do with socks, smellies and ?s

My greatest wish would be for the war in Syria to stop, so that the children there would be able to live without fear.

I can think of three things on my wish list:
To see all my family at Christmas
For my unemployed ds to find a job
Health and happiness for all.

My granddaughter is suffering with mental health issues at the moment. I simply wish for her to be able to access the appropriate treatment and care for her to get back on track.

All I really wish for is to see my 11 and 13 year old children interacting pleasantly! And a pint of Baileys.

I would love a coffee machine so I can have a decent cup whilst I read my Books

I'd like to magically remove all the stress and worry that so many of my friends and family are experiencing at the moment regarding their work/school experience. Expectations of them are unrealistic and they don't argue but just try to step up, of course, they never will because the goal posts just keep changing. How did we get to this place where we are so unkind, unthinking and demanding? Too few people stand up for each other - probably because of fear for their own position - even when they see pain and unfairness.

Health & happiness for family and friends and world peace. No Christmas list as such although it would be nice to be able to see all my family at once but because of distance and circumstance it always seems to be somewhat spread out and disjointed nowadays. Must say having always been a book worm this looks a lovely prize.

I am hoping Santa brings me a Dressing Gown, but not just any dressing gown, one that is shaped like a Kaftan! Ultimate Comfort levels! Good luck all! x

At my age my wishes are to be surrounded by my children and grandchildren and hope that they are all happy and healthy for ever.

My Christmas wish list:
Good health and happiness for everyone.
No more suffering and World peace.
Sharing a lovely Christmas with my family.
Relaxing by the fire with lots of lovely books to read.

CAROLFROST Mon 21-Nov-16 14:59:26

Good health and lots of books !!

LizzieBW Mon 21-Nov-16 14:56:10

Plants or seeds for the garden - they're gifts that keep on giving and lovely to show people what they bought you when they thrive (quick replacement if they don't)

RAZZLEDAZZLE Mon 21-Nov-16 14:49:43

This Christmas my family is all grown up and have their own little families, understandably they want to spend Christmas Day with their small children, so this year it will just be myself, my husband, my Mum, and my unmarried brother for Christmas Day. Will have to get some board games out I think, to keep us oldies entertained. So I hope we all have an amazing time what ever we are doing.

poppycat1 Mon 21-Nov-16 14:39:28

I have asked for several books, some bee friendly plants for the garden and some citrus smelling toiletries. I have had lists back which I have done my best with.

cathisherwood Mon 21-Nov-16 14:36:29

Just wishing for some good weather over Christmas so we can all get outdoors and enjoy walking off the usual overindulgences at this time of year

ginnycomelately Mon 21-Nov-16 14:24:53

For us all to have a Happy Healthy New year and for us all to enjoy the moment . Compared to so many we are sooo lucky

henbane Mon 21-Nov-16 14:20:02

An end to arthritis!

About as likely as world peace I think sad

pipdog Mon 21-Nov-16 14:19:13

The best present I could have is that my son's flat doesn't flood again like it did last year in storm Desmond. He has asked for some things for Christmas that he lost as he wasn't insured having only moved in three weeks earlier.

bumblebee Mon 21-Nov-16 14:10:37

My hopes are, as always, for genuine peace on Earth, an end to all the wars, an end to hunger & starvation, an end to needless suffering.

As for a personal wish, a new job where I can achieve a work-life balance, without a drop in salary to the extent that life becomes a struggle financially.

smile

My Xmas list if I won all these books would be a bit of peace and time to be left to read them!
A few bottles of wine would be nice to drink while reading too!
