It's that time of year again - and the launch of our Best reads for Christmas. Over £500 of fantastic books, fiction and non-fiction, great gift ideas for family and friends (and yourself - goes without saying)

Aaaaand - one very lucky person can win all the books featured on the page. To enter simply tell us what's on your Christmas wish list (it can be absolutely anything)

We will be picking a winner at random on 14 December - more details on the page

To have all our offspring, their significant others and GC together at Christmas with no cross words. Thousands of miles and a broken relationship make that an impossible dream. But always good to dream.?

Books are always on my Xmas wishlist, but if I could add to that I would add: a big box full of essential oils, some jigsaw puzzles and one of those deluxe puzzle mats, puzzle books, a big stationery bundle, sweeties and dairy-free chocolates, cakes, biscuits etc, some warm and comfortable winter boots & clothes, including a full set of thermals, a new stereo system and some pampering goodies for me. I would also add a few tools and clothes for my better half plus treats & toys for our 2 cats and the rescue cats and other animals at Second Chance Animal Rescue Crockenhill. Fingers well and truly crossed for this one as this box of books would give many weeks of great reading.

No presents this year - trying to buy a house at the moment and it needs loads of work on it, kitchen, bathroom, heating carpets - the list is endless so all our money is going into that

marmar01 Thu 17-Nov-16 16:39:32

i simply want my my family around me. This year i think my husband and all 3 of my children will be working it. I will have my 2 Gc to keep me busy. On boxing day i would love to sit down reading a good book tho

Materially I would like some home improvements but philosophically I would like more people to join the 'Effective Altruism' movement. I don't think we can rely on governments to make a change for the better so I dream of large numbers of people giving effectively. It is heartening to see the young, many at university joining '8o,ooo Hours' and similar outfits towards a common goal to make a difference. My Christmas wish is that these continue to grow. I also dream of mankind curbing population growth and finding greener ways to live.

I don't have a wish list, but if I did I'd love a weekly flower delivery, a personal trainer (as I don't have the will power to do it on my own), health and happiness for all my family and myself for the coming year.
Happy festive season to all.

This will sound awful, but my mother has an inoperable brain tumour, and wants to hurry it up. Nobody can help her in that regard, so I wish for an especially peaceful Christmas for her this year.
