It's that time of year again - and the launch of our Best reads for Christmas. Over £500 of fantastic books, fiction and non-fiction, great gift ideas for family and friends (and yourself - goes without saying)

Aaaaand - one very lucky person can win all the books featured on the page. To enter simply tell us what's on your Christmas wish list (it can be absolutely anything)

We will be picking a winner at random on 14 December - more details on the page

Never had a daughter so have huge pleasure shopping for Christmas gifts for daughter in law but my great joy has been giving my elder son a surprise gift and seeing his face when he received it last week so the next great Christmas joy will be watching 4 year old granddaughter diving into her Santa Sack on that special morning!?

I would really, really like a new laptop for Christmas, because mine's on the blink and I can't afford to replace it. Apart from using it to access the smashing gransnet site, I watch
i-player on it as I don't have a TV. sad

I'd be so happy to have lots of books, though, I'd make good use of them, I really would, as I'm a truly dedicated 'reader'!

Happy Christmas everyone grin

I am dreaming of a white Christmas just like the song

All I want for Christmas is for it to go smoothly this year. Last year was a disaster. I want everyone to be well and really enjoy the day, and of course, lots and lots of chocolate for me!

Looking forward to a few weeks off spent with the family. But if I could wish for anything I would like a new bathroom!

suzannedrummond Tue 06-Dec-16 23:06:11

my wish is that if everyone can find it in there heart to help atleast one person this christmas from a gesture to just spending time with some one who has nobody

I would just love a trip on the orient express from london to venice - on my christmas trip - it has been a long-held dream for me ever since an aunt bought me a copy of 'murder on the orient express' when I was young.

As well - I keep asking santa for Colin Firth - and every christmas morning I wake up hoping he'll be at the bottom of the bed - to be greeted with massive disappointment!!11!

after my friends car got side swiped by an artic wagon which then just carried on going I would love a dash cam, she was helped by a following motorist who recorded the incident and then pulled alongside her to tell her he had the footage and said "follow me", he chased after the wagon to talk to the driver who for nearly 4 miles refused to stop - all the conversation was being recorded on the dash cam - eventually this knight in shining armour saw a police car up ahead, drove up to it and got there attention, they pulled over and then went after the wagon and stopped it. The driver refused to give his details but the wagon was from a large well known company, my friend rang them and then they came back with they had watched the footage from the. wagon's dash cam and were confident he hadn't done anything wrong. It was only when she said a third party who was following had footage that they changed their tune.
I never thought I needed one before but this incident has certainly made me change my mind

I am pinning my hopes on getting an iPad this year but if not I would be happy with the book and CD I can usually expect

mollymockford Tue 06-Dec-16 14:42:06

Chocolates!

Yorkshiregel Tue 06-Dec-16 14:35:56

I have asked for a tree lopper. I need to get my trees trimmed before they get too big to handle.

Something else I would like is to find Pierce Brosnon or Thomas Hiddleston in my Christmas stocking.

I would love more vitality so I can do many more wonderful things with my amazing grandchildren. Oh and time to read more frequently.

If I could have anything that I want, my dearest wish is to have what so many others have - I want to be a grandma. But that is not for me to decide or to interfere with.
So for this year, I'll be happy with the company of my family (and a pair of diamond earrings would be nice).

I'd like something small and sparkly - but failing that I'd settle for a new pair of slippers!

Otter105 Tue 06-Dec-16 12:00:15

Twempy Tue 06-Dec-16 09:48:19

Love nice bottle of malt whisky

Angella Tue 06-Dec-16 09:47:37

I'd like a better year than last year. Too many horrible things going on. Also would like my family to be closer together instead of miles apart

volcanopete Tue 06-Dec-16 09:19:52

socks preferably all the same colour

scrapgran Tue 06-Dec-16 09:07:42

I want some vouchers for spa days or afternoon tea. At my age I don't need "things" but love experiences
