On my early dates with my now husband, I remember hearing Andrew Gold's - Never Let Her Slip Away. The words struck me as so true. We had only just met, we meant a lot to each other and we missed each other like mad when we were separated by our homes in Oxfordshire and Devon. When ever I hear it I feel in love and happy.

My Late Mum's favourite film was Holiday Inn and every time I hear White Christmas, by Bing Crosby who she adored, it brings me to tears. My late sister and I went to see the stage musical and the pair of us were in tears at the end.
When I got married the hit of the day was Please release Me by Engelburt Humperdinck, and 20 yrs later that's exactly what he did.

The song that always can bring me out of a negative mood or make me feel happy when I am feeling down is, Colour My World, by Petula Clarke. I do not have one specific memory but I think it came out around 1966 so I would have been a young child and I remember my dad always playing Petula Clarke songs, so I feel the feeling of positivity stems from the wonders of being a young child dancing around to this wonderful piece of music and lyrics, innocence and wonder probably. I have carried this wonder and positivity this song gives me into adult hood and I only have to listen to it and my whole mood can be lifted and I feel like I can take on the world!

"When this bloody war is over" - my father, who had a lovely baritone voice, used to sing the RAF version to us when we were little. We thought it very funny as it included the word " bloody" as well as explicit instructions as to what the old flight sergeant could do with the queued for pass! Now it makes me cry whenever I hear it.

Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street- reminds me of holidays when the children were small. We would drive to the south of France to camp, and one year this was the favourite song, played as we rolled along through the countryside. I can envisage the warmth and aromatic herby smells of the Mediterranean when I hear the song!

Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder. This was out when my eldest daughter was born. It reminds me of being a Mum for a first time as well as being such a lovely song in its own right.

The first dance at our wedding brings mixed emotions for me because there is the happiness of our special day but also the terror of performing our first dance, which our grown up daughter had taught us to do, in front of our family and friends !

Missing You (Chris de Burgh) - it was in the charts when my baby daughter was in hospital and I had to leave her each day to get back to my toddler daughter. We were with the Forces overseas at the time so everything was strange and distressing!

'You are the sunshine of my life' stevie wonder - evokes memories of the last pre-children holiday I had with my late husband.

Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack is a brilliant and sexy song, which reminds me of the first year my husband and I lived together, as we are both huge fans.

My all time favourite song is The Winner Takes It All by ABBA. I love it as I have been through two divorces so I can relate to the lyrics. Also, Agnetha just sings it SO beautifully. I also love Slipping Through My Fingers by ABBA as it is a song about how quickly children grow up. My youngest of five has just turned 18 so now all of my children are adults and I just don't know where all the years went. My other favourite song is Flying Without Wings by Westlife as I think the lyrics are beautiful and the boys just sing it so well.

My absolute favourite is Beautiful Boy by John Lennon, sung at our beautiful sons humanist funeral just after his 13th birthday. He was our adopted son and we loved him so much it hurt. XXX For you.

Bridge Over Troubled Waters brings back so many memories of my teenage years

Que Sera Sera - Doris Day. My mum loved this song and used to sing it to me all the time when I was little. She became mentally ill a few years later when I was 10 , so this song means such a lot and brings back precious happy memories.

Mary Hopkins 'Those Were The Days'. It always brings back my teenage and early twenties years when I had SO much optimism about what I was going to do with my life and how I could make (small) changes to the world. They were very happy times.

Living on a prayer reminds me of lots of parties with family. Good times

Dancing Queen by ABBA. My best friend and I would sing it together (badly) at karaoke nights back in the late 80s. Sadly she died of a brain tumour 7 years ago and it was played at her funeral as everyone left the church. Since then it’s about remembering her and to make the most of every minute!

Misty sung by Johnny Mathis, which reminds me of the time my life started to move from the angst of my teens to a much happier phase.

Ruby by the Kaiser chiefs is my record. When my son was 3 and started nursery i was told he always used to sing the chorus to this song so he was known as (sons name Ruby Ruby!! Always makes me smile.

Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton, it was played for me by the band at my 30th, I was walking on air !
