La Mer by Charles Trenet because it reminds me of holidays to the South of France that I was lucky to be taken on by my wonderful parents when I was very young. It was one of my Mother's favourite songs and I would hear it being played in outdoor cafes. It sometimes brings a tear to the eyes to hear it now, and other times a smile.

Mine is In the Summertime by Thirsty Merc - it evokes the memory of my year travelling round Australia. This song completely summarised how I felt, and was playing everywhere from the nightclubs of Sydney to the potato packing sheds in Bundaberg!

I can't take my eyes off you by Andy Williams. I was serenaded this by a group of lads when on a camping holiday with my parents. I was so embarrassed but also quite chuffed about it.

There are several pieces of music and songs that bring back memories, Bob Marley songs remind me of holidays in Cyprus and my then boyfriend, lots of film music reminds me of my youth, and songs my son loves like Dance Dance Dance from the Trolls movie

I remember sitting between my twin sons' high chairs trying to get them to eat breakfast, they were teething and all of us had got very little sleep for nights, they were crying, I started crying and then this song came on the radio and I looked at their poor little red cheeks and realised that no matter how exhausted I felt, they were the best thing to ever happen to me.

Summer Holiday _ Cliff Richard. Brings back memories of all the wonderful summer holidays both abroad and in the UK. We even have a bit of fun when we find a hat that my wife had dropped!

So many songs evoke memories but I suppose the one we both remember fondly is one that was played night after night in the bar we went to on our honeymoon, Guantanamera.

A few years ago we went on a mini tour of Italy and in one of the hotels DH asked the pianist to play it for us. About a week later we were coming home on the Orient Express and when we came out from dinner it was the same pianist who had remembered us and played it. I assume DH must have been very generous when he asked for it in the hotel.

When my long, long awaited baby was born, hubby and I were gazing at him, absolutely stunned with how perfect he was. We heard a workman's radio outside the hospital window play Perfect Day by Lou Reed. I can't hear it now without remembering that time with joy in my heart.

“Last night I heard my momma singing a song” just evokes memories of being really little and dancing with my Mum in the kitchen.

Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty is definitely one of mine.
It was a hit when I first met the man who was later to become my husband. I loved the song from the start, but as the years have passed it has come all the more meaningful, because the lyrics of the last verse describe him so perfectly! Every time i hear it, it stirs so many layers of memories and emotion in me that I don't know if I am happy or sad.

The Great Pretender by The Platters. I was a melancholic child and felt that this song summed me up and whoever wrote it would understand me as no-one else could. It surprises me that I like to listen to it now. But the musical love of my life was Elvis and Love me Tender was and still is my favourite song of all time.

So hard to choose, but I have always loved The Eagles so I`m going to say `Stairway to Heaven`.

George Michael Careless Whisper for a sadder time in my life

'Downtown' by Petula Clark picked me up when I was down in the dumps. In my twenties I felt so old and past it. Petula was on Top of the Pops, singing, dancing, full of joie de vivre - and 8 years older than I was! I picked myself up, realised life was for living and got on with it. In some senses, I never looked back.
A great artiste and amazing woman who is still an inspiration!
