Why do you travel? What drives you to venture far from home and see sights you've never seen before?

Collette have spent the last 100 years taking people all over the world, and along the way they've learned that travel isn’t about the places you go. It’s about you and your reasons for going.

And everyone has different reasons. They can be big - a promise to a loved one, fulfilling a lifetime goal. But they can also be small - the blue water in Capri or the cuisine in France.

The reason doesn’t have to be happy for the trip to be important and fulfilling. In fact, the most powerful reasons probably won’t be. But they will be personal, deep, meaningful and maybe even surprising.

As the longest-running tour operator in North America, Collette has provided guided travel for 100 years. With trips to all seven continents, Collette’s guests fulfil their deepest travel aspirations in a variety of ways with travel styles that are diversified to suit every traveller’s personal style.

So, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, tell us - what's your reason for travel?

I haven't travelled enough but I would love to see lots of places and enjoy other cultures

I like to travel to get away from everything and relax and enjoy meeting different people, experiencing different cuisine.

It is so enjoyable experiencing different cultures and particularly visiting Italy where the pizzas are best in the world!

I love to travel to meet new folk,
To chat and laugh and share a joke,
To see new places, explore our world,
To see the mysteries of life unfurled.

natavi Wed 12-Sept-18 15:02:42

We've always travelled. Why? Because it's fun, it's exciting and it opens up your eyes to the wonders of the world.

To see the world whilst I can.

Onset of glaucoma and poor mobility have made me realise it is imperative to travel whilst I am still able.

lilihu Wed 12-Sept-18 14:21:33

I travel for new sights to see and photograph. I’ve been enjoying photography for nearly 40 years and hope the pleasure of capturing different scenes will never diminish.

There are several reasons why my wife and I love to travel. The first one being to challenge ourselves. It is so easy to get stuck in a rut so we yearn for a bit of excitement and something a bit different to push us out of our comfort zone, travelling to other countries allows us to find out how resourceful we are in new environments. We like to experience something unfamiliar and leave there with more knowledge of the place than when we arrived there. Travelling opens the mind , meeting people from other countries shows us that the view of the world is completely different to other people. Being stuck in the same routine day after day makes us lose sight of what we have, when we return home from a holiday or a city break back to "real life" it makes us feel like there is no place like home.. We have shared many experiences with other people and travelling certainly brings people together, whether it be a romantic trip away or a trip with the lads it helps strengthen the bond you have even more. The final reason for us is to just simply escape the stresses of life, jobs, money worries etc. Its a time where we both can relax and disconnect from phones, emails and just spend some quality time together.

My life would not be much if I didn't have stories and to create stories you must first create memories. I travel because life is for living and experiencing, I will encourage my child and grandchild to do the same

Hannahpp Wed 12-Sept-18 10:40:39

I love seeing other places with different cultures and the sheer escapism from any worries at home is unbeatable.

sweir1 Wed 12-Sept-18 09:57:24

To experience difference foods and culture

Grannyknot Wed 12-Sept-18 09:02:38

I travel to broaden my horizons, literally and figuratively. I'm fascinated by people, language, different cultures, how people organise themselves in society and I never tire of watching the world go by in a new place.

We’ve always travelled. Often in the U.K., sometimes not. There is beauty everywhere, architecture, nature, people. There is much to be interested in, places that bring peace or encourage activity. Cultures to understand, people to listen to and share experiences with. Travelling can be near or far, there is always something to learn and enjoy. Why do we do it now? Simply because we can and yes, while we can.

colin9 Wed 12-Sept-18 01:42:53

they say it's to get from A to B. I travel because there is
another 24 letters to the destination.
then do it all again.

Lolamia91 Tue 11-Sept-18 22:51:43

peterhall Tue 11-Sept-18 22:27:45

To experience sights and sounds not seen in my living room

helly01pbo Tue 11-Sept-18 22:14:52

I thought it was to escape everyday life and relax. Or at least that was always the theory. The problem is I come back from each holiday more tired than before I went. I guess we always try to cram too much in while away!

Catmadroo Tue 11-Sept-18 22:03:18

to have a break from normal life, and relax, have fun and spend time with family where you don't have to worry about house work etc and to make memories.

gd Tue 11-Sept-18 22:00:13

To relax and to experience different cultures

LeeR1985 Tue 11-Sept-18 21:47:43

Mainly to escape. Get away from the daily 9-5 grind and the stresses of every day life and just have some peace for a while

excitement, fun, and a change of scenery, but mainly lots of memories
