Why do you travel? What drives you to venture far from home and see sights you've never seen before?

Collette have spent the last 100 years taking people all over the world, and along the way they've learned that travel isn’t about the places you go. It’s about you and your reasons for going.

And everyone has different reasons. They can be big - a promise to a loved one, fulfilling a lifetime goal. But they can also be small - the blue water in Capri or the cuisine in France.

The reason doesn’t have to be happy for the trip to be important and fulfilling. In fact, the most powerful reasons probably won’t be. But they will be personal, deep, meaningful and maybe even surprising.

As the longest-running tour operator in North America, Collette has provided guided travel for 100 years. With trips to all seven continents, Collette’s guests fulfil their deepest travel aspirations in a variety of ways with travel styles that are diversified to suit every traveller’s personal style.

So, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, tell us - what's your reason for travel?

The world is big and full of wonder. Our lives are short and full of opportunities. I am off tomorrow to a country I have never visited and am determined to make the most of the next four days.

People and culture are the main reasons I travel. People being family and friends then there's culture and the mass of intrigue, excitement and emotions different ways of life stir up my senses.

Hubby and I travel to help us make up for all the years when juggling work and careers we were like ships that passed in the night. We grabbed the chance when becoming empty nesters to make up for lost time. Being lifelong savers we are now able to live comfortably in retirement but find if we stay at home there is always work to be done. Travelling in our motorhome is the answer to our prayers. We are able to spend quality time together, walk and cycle lots and read and relax too. We are having the time of our lives!

My reason to travel is because it's important to learn about different cultures and see other countries in the flesh. It's also a great way to relax away from everyday life

charlwilde Sun 23-Sept-18 10:59:57

i travel because i'm curious, i love to see new things, eat new foods, but also see how people live, mostly they are the same as us - want the same things happiness and security for them and their family

I travel to experience different cultures and to discover all of the amazing things the world has to offer.

It's also a great escape from real life for a while. I never look at news etc. and only use my phone etc. for emergencies when on holiday so I'm always very relaxed.

BigMxx3 Sun 23-Sept-18 10:40:34

I love to travel as I want to experience the world we live in. It's easy to read books or watch the TV on an interesting country but I love to feel the country and it's culture.

emene Sun 23-Sept-18 10:38:30

At the moment we only travel around the UK but it's to help educate the eldest grandchildren. We have custody of them and they are home educated so we are helping to teach them by visiting different areas and learning about the history

kwal Sun 23-Sept-18 09:44:13

I travel too see the different cultures and places that I have read about and to actually feel! As I travel alone I get to meet lots of interesting people who I probably wouldn't have spoken to had I been travelling with a partner.

Holl1 Sun 23-Sept-18 09:34:02

Suema Sun 23-Sept-18 08:55:32

The world is so big and beautiful and our time for exploring it so short. We are really lucky to be living in a time when travel is possible for many of us.

Carndaisy Sun 23-Sept-18 08:51:00

I travel to experience the food...we are real foodies and we go searching for local dishes everywhere we travel....
