Why do you travel? What drives you to venture far from home and see sights you've never seen before?

Collette have spent the last 100 years taking people all over the world, and along the way they've learned that travel isn’t about the places you go. It’s about you and your reasons for going.

And everyone has different reasons. They can be big - a promise to a loved one, fulfilling a lifetime goal. But they can also be small - the blue water in Capri or the cuisine in France.

The reason doesn’t have to be happy for the trip to be important and fulfilling. In fact, the most powerful reasons probably won’t be. But they will be personal, deep, meaningful and maybe even surprising.

As the longest-running tour operator in North America, Collette has provided guided travel for 100 years. With trips to all seven continents, Collette’s guests fulfil their deepest travel aspirations in a variety of ways with travel styles that are diversified to suit every traveller’s personal style.

So, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, tell us - what's your reason for travel?

I travel for the experiences. In an Italian hotel after dinner you folded up your napkin and put in an envelope on the table. Why I haven't been able to find out.

I love experiencing different cultures and foods from around the world. I love waking up to a view so completely different to the one at home. I love the excitement of getting on a plane or a boat and wondering what awaits. It’s adventure and curiosity that I thrive on.

I love to travel to experience new cultures, sights, sounds and smell.
If I had the money I would spend the rest of my life travelling the world as I find learning and experiencing different cultures and ways fascinating.

Its money well spent, nothing can beat life experience and learning about other cultures, which makes ours more inclusive.

We work seven days a week so getting away from it all is so important, if only for a few days every so often. Going abroad makes a long weekend seem like a holiday. New sites, sounds, smells and customs mean your senses are full working all the time and trying to communicate in an unknown language soon forms a relationship with whoever's language I am massacring leading to smiles all round and offers of help, tips and guidance to often little-known gems.

I just love exploring new places, ducking down side alleys off the tourist agenda, Meeting the people, enjoying their cuisine, building styles, and usually on a fairly tight budget, such fun!

I travel to enjoy different cultures, visit beautiful cities and discover other ways of life. I love learning history, visiting famous sites and experiencing places instead of just reading about them.

I travel because there are people and places I want to see.

Barberdice Sat 22-Sept-18 23:12:12

It's the looking forward to travelling that's almost as good as the actual trip. Choosing, planning and preparing all help to make the travelling exciting. In life you never know what's 'round the corner' so if we can we study the holidays we fancy and then go ahead and book!

tracyliz Sat 22-Sept-18 22:54:49

Travel is supposed to broaden the mind, it does that in many ways and don't we just love doing it....I have to admit I think I enjoy the planning just as much sunshine

MALBEE Sat 22-Sept-18 22:48:13

I like to learn and getaway from all my troubles, I love the stories people tell when I'm on holiday, they stay with me forever.

williamsgwynfa Sat 22-Sept-18 22:35:55

I travel to enable me to be able to experience other cultures, lands and peoples from around the globe :D

I travel to make dreams come true, my dad’s dream was to see the Grand Canyon and we did it and my niece and nephews dream was to visit Walt Disney World in Florida so we did it

I travel to make memories. At home it's so easy to get caught up in life - bills, the home, family problems - that we don't remember to stop and take a moment to enjoy our lives. I find that when I'm travelling I forget all of my woes and get a chance to enjoy our time.

chezvic Sat 22-Sept-18 21:43:25

To relax and feel happy. There’s nothing better than planning a holiday, it’s exciting from the minute you book. All the planning of what you’ll see and do when you get there is all part of the enjoyment for me

My Partner and I both have houses and live with our own grown up children. Travelling gives us precious time together to escape life's challenges and enjoy experiencing this amazing World!

mother999 Sat 22-Sept-18 20:34:12

The main reason is to force us a family to stop and enjoy each others company without any of the distractions of everyday life.

Gypsyqueen13 Sat 22-Sept-18 20:26:39

I travel to learn as much as I can about different cultures, countries etc. The world is a big place with so much to see and so little time to do it

jtl1131 Sat 22-Sept-18 19:29:21

We travel so that all 7 children can experience the world, different cultures and all the amazing sights around the world, with them being home educated its a perfect learning curve!

Caro6699 Sat 22-Sept-18 17:58:26

I travel for the excitement of new places and the opportunity meet new people. To experience new cultures, sights and smells, the markets places and the coastlines.
The history of old cities and the energy the of the new.
I grew up reading books about travel, but as child we never did. Now I travel when and wherever I can

kathcake Sat 22-Sept-18 17:22:14

To broaden my horizons, have fun and experience new cultures

DotMH1901 Sat 22-Sept-18 16:48:55

I travel because my husband and I had plans to start going on holidays abroad once our children were grown and away with their own lives. Sadly he died aged 46 and the plans to travel together never happened. So I go, and think about him, and see the places we talked about seeing together.

sue119 Sat 22-Sept-18 16:32:25

For fun!

Sjonlegs Sat 22-Sept-18 16:18:39

Exploration of the world, different cultures, meeting people, fodder for my poetry and prose.

I LOVE to travel but barely get the opportunity now.

I travel for lots of reasons. To see new places, make new memories, enjoy some time off work.... and make the most of hotel living and not having to tidy up after myself!
