I'm a long distance Grandma and my favourite thing is having a laugh with my Granddaughter on the phone. I jot down the things she tells me and put them in a book I am keeping that tracks her life.
Hearing the deliguted shouts of "Nanny, Nanny" eminating from up the road when they spot my car in my driveway. My son barely containing them from sprinting across the road from his car to my house. Little head peeking round my bedroom door. Taking my hand and asking "is there something very interesting in your room Nanny".
I just love to see my little Granddaughter as often as I can; I work full-time so it can be difficult but we always have a special time, and I love to buy her favourite foods and snacks when I know she's coming, and get her excited with promises of playing hide and seek about the house, or baking, reading and painting together - it's all just a huge privilege and I can't imagine life without my little three and a half year old and of course my own daughter, her mum. #proudest nana
Five grandchildren come to us each Saturday and often they do 'shows' with finger puppets (behind the sofa with the puppets on top). In the last one the narrator said 'Many hundreds of years ago there was a king and a queen, who lived in a castle. The King said to the queen 'Bring me the royal iPad!' My favourite experiences with them are cuddles and creativity, and that free spirit we all hope will never be crushed!
We don't get to see our grandchildren that often but when we do there is nothing better than them rushing to us with arms outstretched for hugs, then measuring to see how tall they have grown and, best of all, we get to play and not do housework!! Love them to the moon and back xx
Unconditional love. My grandchildren range from 1 - 21 and each and every one of them have been a joy to watch grow and develop in to lovely caring people.
The best thing about being a grandparent, is that you get all the enjoyment of seeing your grandkids grow up, without having to be the one to do the less enjoyable bits, like disciplining them!
at just 2 years old, my grandson is so loving, mischievous and funny. It's lovely being able to look after him for the day without the worries that his parents might have (nursery, school in the future, being a little freer regarding routine/discipline, etc. Though I am perhaps more insistent regarding please/thankyou, respect and sitting when eating, etc! It's just such a wonderful bond.
She doesn't get shouted at round at Grandma's & Grandads house. Grandad plays the fool scares and acts silly. Grandma is all full of marshmellows treats & parties fun and games but most importantly keeps her safe from silly grandad lol
