It's that time of year again (hurrah) and time for our best reads for Christmas page...great gift ideas to cater for every taste. Recommendations include fiction, non-fiction, cookery, quizzes and more.

And one very lucky person can win the lot...worth almost £600.

Simply tell us on this thread which gift you are most looking forward to giving this Christmas. It can be big, small, homemade, expensive or free. After all, it's the thought that counts.

Usual Gransnet terms and conditions apply. A winner will be drawn at random at midday on Wednesday 12 December.

I am going to give of my time - to walk the dog for my son and DiL - it will help them and do me good to get out and about and take some exercise. Always feels great after a walk - and it's all free.

The best gift I can give this Christmas is the power to communicate to my grand daughter Sophie who is profoundly deaf but can hear with cochlear implants. However, associated cerebral palsy means she has difficulty speaking. A device called Go Talk 20 will assist with her communication at school and home. The best Christmas present I could buy her! Hope she likes it and it helps her with the many hurdles she has to surmount!

I'm looking forward to all the festivities this year. After 18 months battling cancer my treatment at last comes to an end mid December.
Last Christmas I was ill from chemotherapy, and bald.
This year I look forward to celebrating not just Christmas but the long battle with cancer.
The very best Christmas present for myself and my family is my life ❤

A basket ball and hoop to my grandson who just loves the game and has been wanting one for two years. He’s waited patiently for us to save up for what he calls a proper one.

Well this year has to be seeing my grand daughter Ava who's one open her presents. And after a year of my dad being poorly thankful that we can all enjoy the time together. Amen

I get quite stressed about coming up with good presents every year - this year the kids are all in their twenties, and had said it's really about coming home and eating my nice cooking (!) which is really sweet of them - I do love cooking and baking for them!
