It's that time of year again (hurrah) and time for our best reads for Christmas page...great gift ideas to cater for every taste. Recommendations include fiction, non-fiction, cookery, quizzes and more.

And one very lucky person can win the lot...worth almost £600.

Simply tell us on this thread which gift you are most looking forward to giving this Christmas. It can be big, small, homemade, expensive or free. After all, it's the thought that counts.

Usual Gransnet terms and conditions apply. A winner will be drawn at random at midday on Wednesday 12 December.

Can’t wait to see darling granddaughter open her box of Paddington presents, pyjamas, book, dvd and teddy, her face will be a picture I’m sure

Simple, but cheesy, I'm looking forward to the gift of family time, when everyone's off work, there's some good films on tv, food in the fridge, books on the kindle, cold bright sunny days for a walk through the woods, and we all just generally have time to spare.

Would love a book for Christmas - any book would be a lovely surprise. Hubby thinks I have too many so refuses to buy me more but I think we just need a bigger house.

I'm looking forward to giving my 3 yr old Granddaughter Anna a bath bomb making kit. She is mesmerised by them and loves her bath. She'll have some special time with her Mummy making them.

Merry Christmas everyone. smile

My DIY-illiterate husband has requested an electric drill for Christmas. I just hope I don't live to regret it.

Like many others, the best gift is spending time with my family and my children laughing together instead of the usual niggling! . No need for expensive gifts, just pleasant company.

We don't exchange presents as a family, it is more about quality time. However I do make exceptions for books and DVDs. I'm most looking forward to giving my bookworm grandson some books as he's the one who appreciates them as much as I do!
