Best reads for Christmas - win £600 of books

The best present we will give is a National Trust Family membership giving a whole year of visiting great places to our daughter, son in law and our grandsons.

I am looking forward to giving my 16 year old grand daughter a cookery course for Christmas. She is vegan and loves cake making, so it took a bit of finding but I am sure she will be pleased (as will my daughter who will get a weekend away with her)

My best gift will be a photobook of my grandsons first year which I am making for his mum and dad

I'm looking forward to giving my little granddaughter a 'sew your own unicorn' kit! She is only 3 and a half, and really too young to sew, but she's mad on unicorns (aren't all little girls these days?) and I can help her sew it up - the felt pieces all have holes ready punched, so she may get the idea with some help. The big thing is she'll feel proud as punch to have a unicorn that she made (partly!!) herself

It's not our turn to have the grandsons here on Christmas Day this year, so we won't see them opening their presents. I'm going to treat them to some Lego Advent Calendars, so that I can see their faces light up a few weeks early!

Managed to get a my son a signed copy of his favourite author so looking forward to giving it to him especially as he was unable to get one

I`m looking forward to seeing my youngest great grandson Max`s face on Christmas morning. They`re doing his bedroom to look like a jungle, and I`ve bought him a jungle themed playmat that folds up into a toybox, a jungle picture cushion, and a cuddly toy leopard.

I have taken some of the handprint paintings done by my granddaughter and made a framed collage which I will be giving to other family members as part of their Christmas present.

Love new socks and pyjamas bottom for Christmas, plus a really good book. I've just finished reading finding tipperary mary and a song for Bridget. Fantastic

I'm looking forward to giving a present to each of the 20 elderly people who attend the day centre I run. Most of those people live alone, so are widowed, and many haven't got a family. The gifts last year:

the ladies had a manicure sat, a small bottle of wine, hand cream, fluffy bed socks, calendar, chocolates (total £8)

the men: calendar, woolly gloves, chocolates, deodorant, a small bottle of lager, crossword book.

I wrapped each item individually, and we had "Santa" to hand the presents out, after Christmas lunch at our centre.

New books for my daughter - she wants to be an author

My parents their Christmas presents - one in 80s and the other nearly 80 - it's been hard but this year I have managed to find the ultimate gift. Lets hope they love it

My GS is due just before Christmas, so I'm enjoying collecting his gifts now even though he'll be too small to appreciate them this year.

You can never have too many books so I will be giving my family books and I hope to receive lots of books. The cat prefers a catnip mouse!

A friend of mine is struggling to make ends meet financially, but he won't accept any offers of a loan. So I've been to the local butcher and baker and arranged for gift vouchers for him for Christmas. That way, he'll be able to get the weekly shopping staples for a few weeks and it stretches out his Christmas present well into the New Year. And he's not "accepting charity", because its a Christmas present!

I look forward to being there for people who need someone to talk to who would otherwise be alone over Christmas, this I feel is a gift that goes on giving, I don't only do this at Christmas, it's a lifestyle choice!

The best gift I'm giving this Christmas is homemade personalised presents and cards for my 4 fantastic children and my gorgeous grandson. I'm knitting scarves and hats, and making Christmas tree decorations, coasters, homemade biscuits and truffles. I know they'll love them and will treasure them more than any bought gift.

I am looking forward to giving my little granddaughter a cuddle on Christmas Day as she will be spending Christmas with us and she is gorgeous.

We don't exchange gifts, my husband and I.Instead I am spending hours every day knitting hats, scarves and gloves for the homeless in my area. That, and delivering food bags to the food bank, donating to the hospice too, holds more meaning about the spirit of Christmas than the over-spending on tat that goes on in many homes.

We don't exchange gifts with adults anymore so just have 8yr old DGS's presents to enjoy along with his birthday which just happens to be Christmas Day! One of his presents is a ukelele so looking forward to a good old sing-song later in the day with DH probably doing a George Formby number or two!! For the first time we are eating out as DH has severe mobility problems and we can't be at DD's or DS's - quite looking forward to it.
