Best reads for Christmas - win £600 of books

I am an avid reader so will give everyone books! I particularly love choosing books for my great grandson who is six. I might also buy him a special writing book so he can write me some stories. His spelling is wonderful - he recently wrote that he loved his granny and grandad more than ISESCREEM !

The best present I will give is The First Blue Kangaroo book and a blue kangaroo toy to our great niece all about starting school as she is due to start school next year and we are hoping it will ease any fears she might have and also her brand new pair of pink pyjamas
I can’t wait to see my grandson open his tub of dinosaurs but have a funny feeling his dad our son will enjoy them more

This is a difficult thing to answer as I know what I am getting for Christmas and other people know what I am getting for them. What I would like for Christmas is for my partner to recover from the mini stroke he has had and be able to enjoy Christmas at my sisters house where we have been invited for the day.

I'm giving my grandaughter an easel so that she can paint and draw to her hearts content - all in one place!!!!

The Hairy Biker's new cookbook for me and the Ice monster by David Walliams also the illustrated Harry Potter book for dgd's love books.

After many years of hosting carbon copy Christmasses, this year is going to be vastly different in many ways including location and guests. I plan to give the gift of warm welcome to the newcomers travelling from abroad, my cheerful participation, and as many hours on Marigold Duty as are required!

The best gifts I will give this Christmas are for my two little granddaughters. They are homemade but not by me! I found them on Etsy, and they are perfect. Our eldest granddaughter who will be eight in January is mad keen on gymnastics, and her little sister loves ballet. They will be so excited when they see their new necklaces and bracelets (not expensive) with beads and little gymnast or ballet charms. I’m tempted to get myself a set although I’m not sure how they could be personalised. Perhaps miniature pots and pans or a vacuum cleaner?

I've spent loads of time making fabric beaded Christmas decorations and I hope to give some away and possibly sell some for charity if I have enough left over.

My husband loves garlic, he would have it in every meal and snack if he could. He often jokes that garlic beer would be his his ideal gift - I've only gone and found some. Can't wait to see his face when he opens it - not looking forward to the smell of it though!

I am looking forward to purchasing and giving my "Secret Santa" gift. I have an agreed budget of £10 and must buy for......ooph's that is a secret. Watch this space.x

It will be my grandson's first Christmas. I had (in my presents' box) some boys' toys I had bought over 35 years ago in case I had a baby boy myself (I didn't) so I will give him some of those as well as some new stuff.

I love giving and receiving books

A home made Advent tree with very special presents for each of the 24 days for our very special grandson who is 4 years old. Sadly my daughter is separated from her husband and the little man is with his Dad for Christmas Day this year so the time of Advent is very precious. I have made individual fabric bags, crafted all the numbers and grandad is assembling and decorating the tree from a cut down branch in the garden so all do done with lots of love.

I’m looking forward to giving “If I could tell you just one thing” the book by Richard Reed, founder of Innocent smoothies. I’ve enjoyed dipping into it so much that I want to share the joy and treating myself to a Terry Pratchett audiobook for the car !

A micro scooter for the Monster ( aka my 2 year old trouble seeking grandson)

A ticket to a Christmas concert to my friend.

I'm a keen knitter so I'm looking forward to gifting scarves, gloves and hats to my family. My brother and sister in law especially love handmade things.

I am looking forward to giving other family members the gift of a rest while I make the Christmas dinner for them !

It will just be a quiet affair for myself, hubby & 2 sons after an eventful year of bereavement, illness & sad happenings so we’ll try & give each other a happy time with a few light hearted pressies & some smiles along the way.

I'm really looking forward to giving my new puppy her Christmas pressies - she will still be very little and it will be her first experience of Christmas, the tree, etc! So it will be fun to see how she deals with a wrapped up toy and treats! My lovely old lurcher who is now sadly deceased, really enjoyed last Christmas as I inadvertently left his opened dog treats under the tree whilst I popped out to deliver a Christmas meal to a friend who couldn't get out. Taking advantage of my absence and oversight, he quickly scoffed all 18 remaining treats (feeding instructions, 2 per day!) and we both suffered the consequences during the course of the evening! Windows opened in every room! It does make me smile remembering that - sadly I had to say goodbye to him in the January, but at least he enjoyed his last Christmas and I shan't forget his 'treatfest' in a hurry!

I am looking forward to our spread out family being together for the day especially my mil being able to ‘escape’ her care home for the day and have her family around her. Unfortunately the NZ family won’t be with us but hope to skype them.

I am giving a load of children's toys to a charity this Christmas. They are collecting gifts for children who otherwise would not get anything.
