Best reads for Christmas - win £600 of books

To be able to enjoy Christmas knowing my daughter in law has had a complete pathological response regarding her breast cancer treatment. Knowing she now has a cancer free life is the best gift ever for me, my son, family and everyone who knows and loves her. This surely is a gift to treasure.

My best Christmas gift will be happy smiling faces after Christmas lunch and just being together

I bought a lovely padded coat to my sister. I know how much she will love it. Probably she will go home wearing it.

I don't want any gifts this Christmas - so I am giving instead to the local food bank which is always asking for donations.

My son has recently had a breakdown. This Christmas my husband and i are giving him and his family our home for 3 weeks to themselves. Decorations, food etc all provided so they van enjoy some valuable time together without the added stresses of Christmas planning and paying x

Only a small thing and not very expensive but I am looking forward to giving my three-year-old granddaughter a baking set when she arrives the weekend before Christmas so that we can start a new tradition of her making mince pies whilst singing to the Andrews Sisters Christmas songs that have been our Christmas tradition for the last three generations. Lots of hugs, cuddles and giggles I hope.

I’m giving my 98 mother the gift of Xmas lunch. We’ve been going away for the last few years but we decided to stay home this year and spend the day with her. She loves to read, by the way,

I have only one grandchild, who is here because of IVF and much loved and valued by all the family, especially at Christmas.
Some other people's grandchildren end up on the streets as teenagers - but are lucky enough to be rescued by Centrepoint. I have seen what a difference these projects make to a young person's chances to access a place of safety, life/coping skills, education,employment, and to develop a belief in themselves. I like to think my donation this year will help these substitute grandchildren I will never meet!

I'm looking forward to giving books to my grandchildren as I do every year. I'm a strong believer in books opening the door to new adventures and experiences. The joy of reading a book is priceless.

I will be giving the gift of time to all my grown up children this year. Time so short in their busy lives I can fill the gaps in their demanding lives by offering babysitting, School collection, library trips and so on. I don't do big gifts.
But I do love to read and so do all my family.

My uncle (long dead) who served in both the North Africa & Burma campaigns during WW2 & never spoke of his experiences once remarked on the goodness of the Salvation Army, who brought parcels to the front when other agencies did not. For this reason my siblings & I give to the valiant Salvation Army every year. In memory of Michael a quiet hero, that’s my favourite bit of giving.

I'm looking forward to giving Christmas Treats to all our wild bird visitors and hoping to see a visit from 'our' Jay to collect another acorn or two which I will put out as usual. They give us so much pleasure during the year and Christmas is no exception.
