I grew up near the seaside so making sandcastles became a passion for me when I was young. The beaches at Llandudno were beautiful!

Playing “shop” over our low garden wall. I’d use stones for potatoes, pick weeds to use as veg, have newspaper to wrap these goods in! Id raid the kitchen and take eggs out of boxes etc, so I had quite a variety of things to sell. I’d have a queue of friends as customers. Great fun.

Catching tadpoles in the stream with a net and watching them grow into tiny frogs then setting them free.

I lived in a small cul-de-sac and all the children played together regardless of age or school. When not on bikes or roller skates, my favourite pastime was when we made up and acted out stories. It was all very Famous Five. We made dens, climbed trees, left coded messages for each other.....so exciting!

Mine was walking and taking a picnic every Saturday to the bluebell woods. Sadly now they are gone and houses are built on there.

Roller skating around the local streets with my friend. We had our arms round each other and third to skate in unison. Great fun.

Cycling. We would be gone forever. The worst that would happen would be our tea was cold, or burnt!

Spending every spare minute on the large sandy beach with my sister and our friends every day after school and through the school holidays and weekends, we spent more time on the beach than we did at home. Very happy memories from my childhood at Westgate-on-Sea in Kent.

My favourite outdoor activity when I was a child may seem a little odd to some, but I used to take myself off into the fields alone and scream my head off.

The fields where I used to play now form a section of the M56. sad

Out all day roaming the woods, building dens, bows and arrows. All this with my best friend Jimmy. The time flew by and only ended when we got too hungry.
