Curby - they'd be a huge gang of us playing it! We absolutely loved it! There were less cars around though back in the 80s.

Building dens in the house with my sister. Usually under the dining room table using every pillow and cushion we could find!

I love visiting the beach for ice creams and sandcastles on Scarborough seafront and going on a Donkey ride. Whatever the weather ☀️

Played outside with neighbourhood children most dry days. We had a rope swing on a tree near the railway and we played a kind of hide and seek in the local gardens. We were only indoors if it rained!

Roller Skating for me. Hours of fun learning how to do figures and imagining I would be an Ice Skater when I grew up.

Well as a child I had soooooo many activities that captured my young mind. But I must say one that stood out was the rock pools! Even today being a mom of two little girls I encourage them to play outside and especially by the rock pools. Those rock pools are truly magical and you never know what you are going to find. It is any explorers dream! As a child I remember finding, sea urchins, octopus and starfish and anything from clams, shells and sea snails. Absolutely amazing!

I loved playing on my swing. It was brilliant.

Loved hopscotch - chalking the outline on the pavement or driveway and using a pebble to throw on the numbers

going up the hills finishing with a picnic by the burn, lighting a fire and cooking our sausages. If the weather was good having a dip in the pool and catching tiddles.

Grinding up flower petals in the garden to make potions, eating beech nuts and cobs from the tree at the end of the road, but once I could ride a bike that was my favourite activity, it felt like freedom, especially on summer evenings.

I used to go off on my bike and have adventures around the canal (although I wasn't allowed to go there)! I would only be home for meals.

... wading in the steam with my little wooden boat by the bandstand at Bournemouth, watched over by Nan, knowing the sun would shine forever, and we would share maltloaf for a teatime treat.

I loved to play with two balls against the wall of the house. Could play for hours.

I lived on the edge of town and had so much freedom to just wander around the fields, I still love being outdoors and get cabin fever if I have to stay indoors for any length of time. My other favourite things to do were skipping, alone or with friends and climbing a tree in the garden to read my book.

Going to the park with my little brother and fishing for sticklebacks! We usually walked home with a jarful... happy and dirty! Can't beat it, can you? And there's nothing as free as that these days sighs
