Rapunzel - I loved the way that she saved herself by growing her hair...

Rumpelstilskin

Such an interesting story, still enjoyable

Cinderella! I had the Ladybird version and she wore the most beautiful dress! I loved it and it was always my first choice for a bedtime story!

100% the Billy Goats Gruff, and the wolf huffing and puffing their house down. It was a great story where you could interact blowing and being the wolf, it had a story about being kind where the house of bricks, which took the longest was home for the pigs and the wolf got his just desserts for being a bully ! (Not PC nowadays I am afraid)

I loved Jack and the beanstalk, I loved my dad reading it to me as a child, he was a hard working man, and did not spend much time with me, but the times we read this together when I was small stay with me now -- fee---fi---fo-----fum

I loved the elves and the shoemaker, I could really imagine the old gentleman, and the little elves making the beautifully made shoes for him - there is also a message some of our young people should read - be kind and helpful - the story has stayed with me and still makes me smile.

Cinderella, because of the romance of the prince waking her up after all her adversity.

The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde. A story for mankind for always. A tale of what true wealth and happiness means. That material things have no value unless shared with those whose need is greater. A tale of compassion, sacrifice and love.

The Little Match Girl ,The Happy Prince and the Little Swallow by Oscar Wilde. Incredibly sad and poignant but couldn't stop reading them over and over. Also Brothers Grimm. Don't know what this says about me as a child !

The magic porridge pot. It made more and more porridge until it was running down the streets. I loved reading all stories as a child but this one sticks in my mind as the pictures of a town covered in porridge were so dramatic.

Cinderella. I like the idea of awful people getting their just desserts and the virtuous person coming out on top

Hansel and Gretel - my grandparents had a sweet shop and we used to recreate a miniature version of the witch's cottage all covered in sweets.

CHIiNTZ Fri 27-Sept-19 16:33:57

Cinderella - because I had the Penguin book and it showed Cinderella wearing 3 or 4 different dresses and I loved to look at those dresses.

junebabyjen Fri 27-Sept-19 16:13:35

Cinderella love how she gets transformed

kristanybryn Fri 27-Sept-19 15:32:22

I loved Rumpelstiltskin because I thought the story was intriguing!

Linda48 Fri 27-Sept-19 14:06:18

Rapunzel beacause of her beautiful long hair - I always had to have my hair short because it was easier to manage

Giggles04 Fri 27-Sept-19 10:53:53

Beauty and the Beast, as Belle sees the good in people. I loved how the castle’s staff had turned into Mrs Potts and Chip, Cogswoth, Lumiere, and Madame Bouche, who would talk and advise Belle. Magical and filled me with wonder!

grannyvicky Fri 27-Sept-19 10:26:37

Milly-Molly-Mandy ,i loved to be read these stories from my mum or dad.i cant remember too much now about these but i so enjoyed them

Chucky Fri 27-Sept-19 09:51:06

Hansel and Gretel. Not so much for the story, but my parents bought me a beautifully illustrated book, with this tale in. We didn’t have a lot of money and I really loved books, so this was really special to me throughout my childhood. Unfortunately although I did take all my books with me when I got married this one had disappeared and my mother said she didn’t know what had happened to it. I was so upset!

accrington Fri 27-Sept-19 08:28:47

Cinderella - it was every young girls dream

NannyChristmas Fri 27-Sept-19 00:43:58

Without a doubt...The Princess and the Pea! I used to imagine myself being the princess and finding my happy ever after with my adoring prince! You won't believe this but it actually happened! Okay, he's not a real prince and he works for the local water authority but he treats me well and has been by my side for decades so he's a prince to me ??

GrannyMary1 Fri 27-Sept-19 00:24:11

Sleeping Beauty was my favourite. I remember reading it at primary school and the picture of the wicked fairy godmother with the spinning wheel in the room at the top of the tower still haunts me!

sadiewoohoo Thu 26-Sept-19 23:22:55

Loved Snow White and the magical tales of her living happily deep in the forest surrounded by the helpful dwarves and animals

Hetty58 Thu 26-Sept-19 21:46:50

Jack and the Beanstalk I loved! It had all the drama and the vital fear element that kids need!
