Bambi by Felix Salten was my favourite book as a child and I loved Thumper the rabbit. I remember being sad when Bambi's Mother was shot and every time I see a picture of a deer or one in real life, I think of the book.

Oh my goodness I LOVED Red Riding Hood ... but I so wanted her to work her magic on the wolf and tame him! I guess that was the dog-lover in me!!

The Three Little Pigs
I loved the story of the 3 little pigs and how they all built their houses and I thought the bid bad wolf was scary

Danishish11 Tue 24-Sept-19 22:51:32

The ugly duckling by Hans Christian Andersen ....such a strong message....still amazingly current... wink

Bagpuss31 Tue 24-Sept-19 22:30:49

Jack and the beanstalk as I loved the idea of a goose that laid golden eggs!

mozart333 Tue 24-Sept-19 21:35:41

I really liked Hansel and Gretel. I was enchanted by the trail of breadcrumbs and the gorgeous, iced gingerbread house.

Jinky2 Tue 24-Sept-19 21:19:02

Rapunzel. I always fancied having hair as long as hers. It never happened though!

queentwixy Tue 24-Sept-19 21:17:59

Cinderella-it's such a magical story and wonderful that she is free in the end!

Kath74 Tue 24-Sept-19 20:57:03

My favourite fairy tale as a child was the Elves and the Shoemaker. I loved the way the elves helped the shoemaker and his wife. Then, the tiny clothes that the shoemaker makes in return really fascinated me as a child!

I always enjoyed the tale of Little Red Riding Hood being read to me by my grandma many many years ago. It stll brings back memories now when I see it mentioned.

The Little Match Girl. It was such a sad story and it made me cry but I read it over and over again. I still get goosebumps and I'm an oap now.

dippybird2 Tue 24-Sept-19 20:07:19

Little Red Riding Hood because I always wanted a red cape with a hood.

beastiemama Tue 24-Sept-19 19:39:30

My father took me to see Snow White etc. when I was three or four, and I loved it. Later, however, I had a Ladybird book of Sleeping Beauty, this was in the fifties, when the illustrations were magical. I loved the pictures so much that this became my favourite fairy tale.

I found The Tinderbox the most amazing and therefore the most memorable book and it started off my love of classic fairy tales. I am very pleased to say that my eldest grandson, although a big fan of Beast Quests absolutely loved The Tinderbox too and we often read it together.

Had to be Snow White oh yo have met those cute dwarfs

Evie64 Tue 24-Sept-19 18:49:47

I adored the Ugly Duckling, because I was one! As a 7 year old I really related to it and couldn't wait to grow into a beautiful swan. Errrr? Still waiting.........

This will confirm that I am old!!!
Way back in the 1980s my daughter had beautiful auburn hair that she could almost sit on. As it had to be plaited for school, when it hung loose it had the most gorgeous waves!
My daughter's favourite fairy tale - and mine - was Rapunzel!
Her two younger brothers always used to sing "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair whenever her hair was being brushed!
Ah fond memories!

Snow white and the seven dwarfs. Fantastic story, I always wanted to be snow white and marry a prince.

bridied Tue 24-Sept-19 15:55:25

I would love to be snow white what fantastic fun it would be to be friends with Happy from the seven Dwafs also getting the prince

kathward Tue 24-Sept-19 14:27:48

Cinderella . I always like a happy ending and wanted my life to end up with my handsome prince

Lizzie66 Tue 24-Sept-19 14:17:33

Kids love to be scared and find the tension in fairy tales thrilling.
Little Red Riding Hood did it for me. She was suspicious of her suddenly strange looking grandmother, but too innocent to believe there was anything wrong.
Fear without danger. That’s the key.

duncanbrown Tue 24-Sept-19 13:08:40

Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Mapleleaf Tue 24-Sept-19 12:33:13

Difficult to choose, as I liked them all, but I think my absolute favourite was Cinderella, because she did go to the ball and did marry her handsome prince whereas her ugly sisters and step mother got their comeuppance in the end.

RebRob09 Tue 24-Sept-19 12:09:45

My favourite was Snow White! My father used to re tell the story over and over with a little set of finger puppets I had - I used to call them my little people. Treasured memory smile
