Sleeping Beauty for me - as a young girl it always struck me as very romantic that she could only be woken by a kiss from her handsome prince!

Corncom Sat 21-Sept-19 16:44:55

It was Cinderella. I had the most beautiful book. Here ball gown was blue and sparkling. So beautiful still remember it to this day!

I used to love the Three Billy Goats Gruff as my grandad used to read this to me when I was little and scare me to death with his voices!!

sukysue Sat 21-Sept-19 15:57:36

It was Hansel & Gretel , the sweets lol

Flowerpot123 Sat 21-Sept-19 15:35:18

Cinderella. I think I wanted to meet my Prince Charming ?

supernannyjane Sat 21-Sept-19 12:46:43

Cinderella - I was entranced by the Ladybird version and read the book until it literally fell apart. I think the transformation aspect of the story struck a chord with me as a child, although it took some considerable time to find my own handsome prince!

Sleeping Beauty. I loved the picture of her marrying the Prince and always wanted a wedding dress like hers. (It wasn’t!)

So many, how do we choose.
The ugly duckling , I had a ladybird book of this and loved Danny Kaye.s song on the radio.

Mine had to be, Little Red Riding Hood, and it was always said that when I grew up to visit my nan, I would have a RED CAPE just like hers and a basket to carry some things for grandma. I was never worried about her big eyes, as I knew she was getting old. But I loved that story and told it to my girls so often

The Magic Chair. I was bullied at school and I used to read about the adventures of the children on the chair and I loved to pretend it was me flying to different exciting places having fun.

Evie64 Sat 21-Sept-19 00:22:02

The Ugly Duckling, because I was one!

amaradnas Fri 20-Sept-19 23:16:01

Kathym Fri 20-Sept-19 18:06:54

The little mermaid ?

Cinderella, A happy ending

Elrel Fri 20-Sept-19 17:24:14

The Little Fir Tree, I used it for the first class play my children performed in 1960 in Camberwell.
It seems even more sad now than it did then!

MiniDriver56 Fri 20-Sept-19 16:21:50

My absolute favourite was and still is The Princess and The Pea! I use to dream I was the Princess, it shows sensitivity in so many ways.

SuzieMay Fri 20-Sept-19 15:41:27

It has to be Cinderella. What little girl doesnt dream of finding a Prince Charming?

CHARLEY1 Fri 20-Sept-19 14:25:28

I loved The Little Mermaid - scary in parts - a sad ending but a fantastic story

heavensjoys Fri 20-Sept-19 12:44:00

For me it is Hansel and Gretel, because in the end the dear children (who stick together through all adversities) find their own way home to their beloved Dad, who is waiting with open loving arms. A lovely feel good ending for me!

elizzie54 Fri 20-Sept-19 11:30:31

Has to be Cinderella ....... who wouldn't want a Fairy Godmother!!!

Mopsx4 Fri 20-Sept-19 10:45:08

Hansel and Gretel . I loved the gingerbread house ( often make one with the grandchildren around Christmas) and the fact that the children triumphed over the witch.

jules49 Fri 20-Sept-19 10:43:03

Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I think I saw Goldilocks as myself. I had long blonde hair and enjoyed exploring outdoors. My Mother kept the Ladybird books we read these fairytales from as children. I still have them now. The full-colour illustrations really made these fairytales a pleasure to read.

luckycharles Fri 20-Sept-19 10:10:50

a story about some horses on a merrygo round.i hardly remember it now but i asked my mum to read it over and over again.

Growing0ldDisgracefully Fri 20-Sept-19 09:14:46

The Billy Goats Gruff, because it was deliciously scarey with the lurking troll!
