The gingerbread man - I think I liked the repetitive "run run as fast as you can" so I could join in - and then I love his reappearance in Shrek

I could never decide if I loved Cinderella or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs more. I always remember the dance scene where the fairies alternated her beautiful dress pink then blue and back again. So enchanting! But then I wanted to be like Snow White in my own little house with all the animals helping her whilst she sang away. Magical!
I still have several volumes of Disney books with the original scenes from the film that I’ve had since the 70’s and treasure

I loved Rumpelstiltskin - it's actually incredibly dark & scary!

CarrieAnn Thu 19-Sept-19 19:43:23

My favourite was Rumpelstiltskin, when my mum read it to me,she always did all the actions I was scared to death ,but still asked for it every night

rizlett Thu 19-Sept-19 19:34:58

Snow White because I had a Disney story book and my favourite page was the one with the 3 fairy godmothers on it dresses in pink, blue and yellow bestowing their gifts on the baby. Magical.

what was your favourite fairy tale growing up and why . . . the Emperor's New Clothes . . . . l could not, even as a child, believe that anyone would fall for it, so l chuckled my way through it many times

Hansel and Gretel. I still use imaginary breadcrumbs to find my way back when I am in an unfamiliar area.

Polly4t42 Thu 19-Sept-19 19:15:03

The ugly duckling ? turning into a swan, giving hope to all of us who thought they were not pretty enough or too shy x

spaghetti Thu 19-Sept-19 19:14:43

Rapunzel. I loved it as I loved her long hair (something I never had) and the prince who came to rescue her!

Jishere Thu 19-Sept-19 19:00:13

My favourite was The Rescuers those tiny mice saving poor little orphaned Penny from Madame Medusa's clutches.

MrsHappy Thu 19-Sept-19 18:59:03

The Little Match Girl. My first instance of being fired up by social injustice.

kyalami Thu 19-Sept-19 18:52:23

Hansel & Gretel - I loved the way the children outwitted the witch & all lived happily ever after.

GranAnn42 Thu 19-Sept-19 18:47:38

Would have to be Snow White - what would parents say today , their daughter going to live in a house with 7 men!

mazgoli Thu 19-Sept-19 18:43:41

Jack and the Beanstalk

williamsgwynfa Thu 19-Sept-19 18:42:25

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I loved the dwarfs looking after Snow white - even though they could have been hurt by the Queen. Love conquers all :D

Mazamet07 Thu 19-Sept-19 18:41:11

Hansel and Gretel terrified me and fascinated me in equal measures! That delightfully tempting gingerbread cottage, those wicked parents, leaving trails through the forest (tried it myself, but not with breadcrumbs) and being cooked in a witch's oven. I still shiver to think of it.

TigerIOM Thu 19-Sept-19 18:24:41

I liked Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Aepgirl Thu 19-Sept-19 18:15:20

Peter Pan. I went to see it at The Scala theatre every year and saw a variety of young women play Peter. How I loved it when we all had to clap if we ‘believed in fairies’ when Tinker Bell was failing fast. Oh the joy when she recovered!

Doreen5 Thu 19-Sept-19 18:05:46

Hansel and Gretal

Kate63 Thu 19-Sept-19 17:54:55

I loved Peter Pan and still do. The idea of flying, fairies the whole thing. I have bought the story for each of our grandchildren. Why should any of us grow up!

jenpax Thu 19-Sept-19 17:44:39

My favourite was from a book called Old Peters Russian Fairy Tales and it was the story of a witch called Baba Yaga who lived in a hut that walked on chickens legs!
I loved all of the stories in that book and remembered many by heart! so told them to my own children and grandchildren from memory!

YorkieGothGirl Thu 19-Sept-19 17:31:48

A Christmas Carol.

soo1 Thu 19-Sept-19 17:22:44

jack and the beanstalk I think I liked to be frightened by the fee fi fo fumm

GabriellaG54 Thu 19-Sept-19 17:17:46

Hansel and Gretel. My children loved the idea of a trail of bread to help them find their way out of the wood but was sad when it was eaten by woodland creatures.
Whenever we went for walks after that story, he'd collect gravel beforehand (one time it was soil in his pockets ??) or draw a landmark (post box or tree) in a notebook to be sure he could find his way home.

brownbunny17 Thu 19-Sept-19 17:17:03

Cinderella, I loved the beautiful dresses . But liked the fact she
got the Prince in the end, after being treated horribly by the step sisters and step mother
