Cinderella
A lovely fantasy love story with a happy ending

lollee Wed 18-Sept-19 14:12:38

Absolutely adored Danny Kay when I was young and never forgot him acting out the Ugly Duckling to an enthralled group of youngsters in the film about Hans Christian Andersen. I imagined I was sitting amongst them too and loved all the others songs he sang too.

Cinderella was my favourite because as a little girl wearing a beautiful dress and meeting my prince was my perfect fairy story with a happy ever after ending.

Beauty and the Beast as I thought it was so romantic to love a damaged soul with a kind heart and look beyond the surface. Of course you would be rewarded with a handsome prince in the end too.

scarlettsbay Wed 18-Sept-19 13:35:17

Snow White; I imagined having amazing adventures in the forest?

brunettemama Wed 18-Sept-19 13:27:11

The Princess And The Pea. The fact that the Princess was so special & delicate that she could feel the pea even through all those mattresses.....I love this story.

maciv234 Wed 18-Sept-19 12:29:21

Rumplestiltskin for me

compfan Wed 18-Sept-19 12:28:38

Henny Penny - it just idn't make sense with the sky falling etc. so I was always adking for this story and trying to figure it out:-)

Angella Wed 18-Sept-19 12:17:59

Sleeping Beauty because the Prince awakens the sleeping Beauty with a kiss after she pricks her finger on a needle and it’s so romantic!

MAForster Wed 18-Sept-19 11:52:46

Goldilocks and the Three Bears - because Goldilocks got the breakfast she liked (in the end)!

jmk4646 Wed 18-Sept-19 11:50:29

mollymockford Wed 18-Sept-19 11:31:37

There was no particular one, but I loved the Andrew Lang "colour" fairy books - I had quite a collection of them. But most of the books I read as a small child weren't actual fairy stories - they were things like Enid Blyton's books.

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 18-Sept-19 11:26:08

Any Hans Christian Andersen story, mainly The Ugly Duckling - I thought I was the ugly child and dreamt of growing into a "Swan" - I certainly grew into something but not sure if I would have been classified as a "Swan"!

lisajordan18 Wed 18-Sept-19 10:54:47

I loved Beauty and the Beast, such a beautiful book with fantastic characters.

maggie1234 Wed 18-Sept-19 10:49:37

The Three Bears I always loved porridge !

mphammersley Wed 18-Sept-19 10:42:12

I think it was Cinderella, it was magical, funny, a little bit cruel and in the end the best girl won! If only life was the same!!

pendo Wed 18-Sept-19 10:38:58

I saw the original Snow White when I was a child and it scared and mesmerised me equally. Now I am 'old' I am in awe of the animation and watch it with my grandchildren who all love it as much as I do.

amy5578 Wed 18-Sept-19 10:19:42

Peter Pan

twirlywhirly Wed 18-Sept-19 09:51:23

Snow White so enchanting with her seven dwarfs, from rags to riches, the pumpkin carriage & golden slipper.
Kind optimistic & romantic the story always lifted my spirits ?

joot Wed 18-Sept-19 09:38:13

Rapunzel. I dreamt of being a princess with long hair and a pointy hat !

potty Wed 18-Sept-19 09:08:41

Cinderella - the idea of the Prince and the glass slipper pandered to my idea of romance and of course started the shoe fettish I now have. Such a magical story with a great message and total wonder throughout.

valseal Wed 18-Sept-19 08:37:17

Hansel and Gretel, just love the names!

accrington Wed 18-Sept-19 08:23:07

Cinderella, as it told me that dreams could come true.

Lorrainep Wed 18-Sept-19 08:12:43

Goldilocks and the Three Bears - because I can still remember loving my Dad acting out the voices of the different characters when reading it to me
