Little red riding hood - loved the drama and wolves were my favourite animal ( had one as an imaginary friend - but that’s a whole new story )? I was gutted when I read a version with the children at my sons school and the opening page said if you’re going to grandmas house , don’t forget your mobile phone ! - sort of ruins it ?

I loved the Three Little Pigs - a great tale of siblings looking after each other (in some versions at least!!) &, having always been terrified of wolves, I was reassured by the wolf meeting a sticky end!

Loved the elves and the shoemaker and the princess and the pea Lovesd so many others - too many to mention but Grimms fairy tales were also a great favourite

Peter Pan - I loved the idea of flying away to Neverland.

I loved Rapunzel. I used t stand in my window and pretend there was a prince below who had come to save me.

Not an original choice, but it was always Cinderella. Who doesn't like the idea that one day they will be plucked from obscurity into a life of fame and glamour? And yet, now I'm older, I feel more pity for the ugly sisters. Funny how things change.

Hansel and Gretel - the gingerbread house when I was younger I could almost taste it!

My favourite story was The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Andersen: the book was enormous in size, with thick creamy pages, beautiful illustrations & pop-up features. Mother read it to me once a week, and it felt very special, as she was a very busy midwife & hardly ever at home. I used to go to the hospital just to see her.

Snow White. My mother had a series of jigsaws that were scenes from the 1937 film. They were over 30 years old when I inherited them and there was the odd piece missing. I grew to love the beautifully animated characters.

Sleeping Beauty. I loved the idea of the thorny prickly hedge growing up around the castle with everyone asleep inside.

The Ugly Duckling , I loved the happy ending and as I got older the deeper message of the tale.

Hansel and Gretal. A scary story, but the gingerbread house at the end made it all worthwhile.

Beauty and the Beast I have always think of my self a Beast even if I am not but people think I am.

Three little pigs, I loved hearing this fairytale and looking at the pictures.

Has to be “Hansel and Gretel”. A rather dark but very evocative story of good triumphing over evil, and of course I loved the idea of the house made of sweets that you could break pieces off and eat! Later in life I fell in love again, but this time with Humperdinck’s opera. Fabulous!

The Ugly Duckling - the song seemed to be played a lot on the radio - which made it all the more special.

Black beauty was so sad when ginger died

I don't know if it really counts as a fairy story but I loved The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. My aunt had a heavy carved wardrobe in her bedroom and I dreamed of walking through the back to a magical land.
