Red Riding Hood as I alway wanted a cape!

Corkie91 Mon 16-Sept-19 12:17:24

The emperors new clothes, I thought it was so funny that the adults didn't make a comment on a naked emperor where a child just pointed out he was wearing no clothes

The Princess and the Pea always amused me. My boys loved the Three Little Pigs.

My step sister used to make up stories about a monkey called Micky. He was a really naughty monkey and I was always begging her to tell me more of her imaginative stories at bed time. Such happy memories ?

The 3 little pigs, it's stayed with me to life, I now tell my grand children, it's a learning lesson, try until you find the best , and it will stay strong

The Little Mermaid as I really liked the way that love transformed her.

Goldilocks and the three Bears. This is because I have been bear crazy since receiving my first teddy ?.
I love the story of being able to enjoy a stranger's home and try out their food and beds. Imagine the reaction if you did do this for real.

Aladdin.
So magical. Always loved the part where he rubbed the magic lamp.

My Grandmother had a large beautifully bound book of Hans Christian Anderson stories which I was allowed to have out of her glass fronted book case to read when I visited her.

Many stories come to mind, The Snow Queen, The Ugly Duckling, the very poignant Little Matchgirl, to mention a few.

The story that used to intrigue me the most was The Tinder Box - I read and enjoyed this story many times.

Snow White and the 7 dwarfs captured my imagination. It is a feel good story and is cheerful.

Donnylover Sun 15-Sept-19 21:00:50

Snow White because I loved the 7 Dwarves

hil22 Sun 15-Sept-19 20:03:13

The Princess and the Pea was my favourite because I was fascinated by the fact she could feel the pea under so many mattresses!!!

AmyRoses3 Sun 15-Sept-19 19:27:28

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I will never forget that wonderful moment, when, as a child, I read about Lucy’s feet crunching on snow as she pushes through the fur coats in the wardrobe. I really did believe that another world lay beyond the wardrobe and it's a story my children and grandchildren find equally magical.

Tanny Sun 15-Sept-19 17:48:56

It’s Cinderella. Every little girl loves a princess

Jaxie Sun 15-Sept-19 17:38:54

Thumbelina: I wanted a little sister so would fantasise about having a small person to cherish.

floorflock Sun 15-Sept-19 17:30:30

The Princess and the pea.
I thought that a Princess must be a magical person if she could actually feel a pea through all those mattresses.

As a child I was addicted to the Andrew Lang series of Fairy Books each one named after a colour and crammed with stories, well known and obscure. I borrowed them all from the local library - I must have read more fairy stories than I had hot dinners!
One of my favourites was The Tinderbox. Don't know why, as the soldier who retrieves the tinderbox was a very bad character. There was just something about the dogs 'with eyes as big as saucers/mill wheels/the round tower'
