Cinderella The dress and shoes and the creatures helping her

purplevamp Sun 15-Sept-19 17:03:20

I loved Alice's Adventures in Wonderland because I wanted to eat the cookies and drink the special drink that made her grow smaller and then taller!

Cinderella, Loved the story of a little girl who had nothing becoming a princess

Snow White and the seven Dwarfs. I was frightened of the wicked queen when I was a young child, but the dwarfs made me laugh and the ending was happy.

rmunson Sun 15-Sept-19 15:51:22

Snow White because I wanted the 7 dwarfs as my friends

Jacqi Sun 15-Sept-19 15:34:07

Tinkerbell, Cinderella, probably but I did love Hanzel and Gretel, and all the others, just in awe of all the imagination the storytellers had. I must say but not really in the answer.
I did love It's a Wonderful World song on the ride in DisneyLand so many years ago, still love it as well, just sings in my ears all the time.

I can remember reading Aesop’s Fables as a child and being fascinated by the story of Medusa with snakes for hair.

Greenfinch Sun 15-Sept-19 14:55:20

The Ugly Duckling because of its message of hope.

Grampy Sun 15-Sept-19 14:43:20

Jack and the Beanstalk intrigued me as a child, I couldn't get used to the idea that Jack could climb up to see the Giants castle, and I wanted to be him.

Nannan2 Sun 15-Sept-19 11:28:57

Gosh yes,id forgotten about thumbelina,i loved her too as im not very tall myself(grin)

Nannan2 Sun 15-Sept-19 11:26:12

Yes i too went to cinema to see snow white& the seven dwarves, but it didnt scare me.i loved cinderella in books& films. The one that scared me was the red shoes! What a horrible tale for a child to think of them cutting off her feet& the shoes carrying on dancing! Ive never read that one to my grandchildren.it used to give me nightmares when i was a kid.

My all time favourite fairy tale was Haensel and Gretel. I could fully identify with Gretel getting lost in the woods, as I spent a lot of time playing in the old woods near our house. There were quite a few old women in the village that I transformed into the old which in my minds eye.......and some dishy boys that I chose to be my phantasy Haensel.
So the Brothers Grimm were part and parcel of my childhood in a tiny village in Germany

craftergran Sun 15-Sept-19 10:47:18

Peter Pan because they could fly

I didnt actually like fairy tales when I was a little girl, they scared me, but I adored the Paddington stories. To this day I recall Paddington going out for dinner with the Browns and asking for HORSES DOO VRES, and an Olive from his hors d'orves flew into the trombone of the band player. When ever we are out, I still ask for HORSES DOO VRIES, people think I don't know what I am asking for, but Paddington does.

Molly10 Sun 15-Sept-19 09:28:22

All of the titles mentioned. Also as a little girl I read Thumbelina over and over again so it was my favourite then.

Cinderella - I would like to be her now and get shoes to fit!!!!

Bellroyd Sun 15-Sept-19 09:23:40

I enjoyed The Three Billy Goats Gruff, because it was scary but not too scary!

moggie Sun 15-Sept-19 09:19:49

Cinderella. Like other little girls I loved the ball gowns & kind fairy godmother. Perfect ending too.

jroberts1 Sun 15-Sept-19 09:04:45

Rumplestiltskin because all fairytales should be a little bit frightening

CassieJ Sun 15-Sept-19 08:55:52

Peter Pan - I just found it magical

spevick Sun 15-Sept-19 08:06:55

Cinderella..she had a fairy godmother who whisked her away in beautiful clothes where she met her prince. He came looking for her and live conquered all!

Valbeasixties Sun 15-Sept-19 04:32:43

I loved fairy tales and still do! I especially enjoyed an old copy of Grimm's fairy tales that had belonged to my mother in the 30's and which I treasure today. When I was teaching, I used traditional tales as an enjoyable means of learning how to format a traditional tale. I think my favourite is 'The Twelve Dancing Princesses' as I loved the romance behind it and the idea of visiting a secret place to dance all night in beautiful satin dancing shoes. How I longed to be the youngest princess who ended up marrying the handsome prince who managed to solve the mystery of why their dancing shoes were worn out!

michael888 Sun 15-Sept-19 01:44:16

The Ugly Duckling was my favourite.
