Little Red Riding Hood because the wolf dressed as grandma sounded so scary

LadyLuck58 Sat 14-Sept-19 15:11:54

The Three Little Pigs

I think it was because I lived in a house of bricks so I knew I was safe.

Heidi. As a child I lived in a terraced house in an industrial town and longed to live among mountains, sleep under a feather duvet in a wooden chalet and take goats up a mountain . Having a grandfather like her would have been amazing.(My own died before I was born)

definitely Cinderella. It had goodies and baddies and a happy ending. I loved all the animals who helped her.

The six swans.

The book that it was in had beautiful illustrations

My favourite fairy story was "Snow White and Rose Red" . My parents had to read it to me over and over again. Even now, 70 years later I can still remember the slightly grey paper of the pages and the black ink illustrations.

Beauty and the beast because it taught us a message that everything and everyone is beautiful inside.

The Elves and the Shoemaker, the thought of little people coming out at night fascinated me. Probably why I enjoy Toy Story.

rubysong Sat 14-Sept-19 12:31:40

I liked Sleeping Beauty because I liked the idea of the Prince hacking his way through the overgrown thorns to reach the princess.

jt75 Sat 14-Sept-19 12:24:39

Billy Goats Gruff. I liked the trip trap over the bridge.

The Princess & the Pea was my favourite. My Nana used to read it to me & I read it myself over & over. I always used to check my bed to make sure there wasn't a pea under the mattress each night, just in case.

I grew up with Ladybird Books and loved their fairy tale series. My favourite was the Princess and the Pea. I used to put a pea under my mattress to see if I could sleep. I always could.

Three little pigs - It was scary

sophie56 Sat 14-Sept-19 11:18:27

'The little Match Girl' - My adored Grandma bought me a lovely book with fairy tales and a picture on the front that moved when you moved the book. I loved the book and the pictures and remember being very moved by the poverty of the match girl and that she sadly perished.

I loved 'Peter Pan and Wendy' My Gran lived near the statue in London of Peter Pan - we used to sit there and have a picnic read the book and I really felt I was 'Wendy'

vickyg88 Sat 14-Sept-19 10:44:52

Cinderella - I always wanted a Prince to rescue me and live in a beautiful castle.

NiCH Sat 14-Sept-19 10:44:10

Little mermaid. Such a sad ending that stuck in my mind for long time, always wished that the author had chosen a happy ending.

kirstdibby Sat 14-Sept-19 10:34:51

Hensel and Gretel was one of my favourites

Love Sat 14-Sept-19 10:24:22

I loved The water babies by Charles Kingsley.I have read it countless times & at the age of 73 I still love to read it.I loved Mrs do as you would be done by,I think it taught me a great lesson in life.

Jacks10 Sat 14-Sept-19 10:06:32

Jack and the beanstalk - such an exciting fairytale. Read it over and over again! Such a shame the children of today are less interested in reading!

maryandbuzz1 Sat 14-Sept-19 10:03:50

Rumpelstilskin ......I loved it when he was seen dancing round the fire and chanting his name.

smoran37 Sat 14-Sept-19 09:50:20

The Enormous Turnip because everyone helped out. Collaboration works.

wjanice121 Sat 14-Sept-19 09:42:23

Hansel and Gretel because I remember getting the book for Christmas, as a child, and my mum reading it to us children.

SusieWilkinson Sat 14-Sept-19 09:39:32

The Elves and the Shoemaker, I don't even remember why, but I used to ask for my Mum to read it to me every night!

happysouls Sat 14-Sept-19 09:36:00

The Three Billy Goats Gruff! It always has to be read with different voices and effects and UP jumps the ugly troll to make you jump! I remember playing it one day in a stream with a bridge over it and the whole family playing roles! haha!
