The ugly duckling was a fave

hugshelp Sat 14-Sept-19 09:29:18

Oh sorry snow white and the seven dwarves - because of how she foiled her wicked step mother.

My fav.story when I was young, was Rumplestiltskin...I was actually terrified of the character in the book. My Mum told stories so well, and it was the voice she put on,when getting into the character of him!! I loved my Fairy Stories, but this was No.1.

Cinderella as I wanted her to be happy and get a boyfriend and go to the party!

Helsbells68 Sat 14-Sept-19 08:45:10

Princess and the Pea, my bed was always uncomfortable

Suema Sat 14-Sept-19 08:37:20

I was very shallow as a child. It was Cinderella, because I liked the ball gowns!

Lisapaige24 Sat 14-Sept-19 08:28:19

Sleeping beauty was my favourite my mother always read it to me and told me I was her sleeping beauty with my black hair and pale complexion plus I was one of those children who slept a lot my mother always used to tell me a handsome prince will have to come along and wake me up as a 4 year old I took it as literal am still waiting over 30 years later ??

Cinderella because I liked the fairy godmother

jacknutter Sat 14-Sept-19 07:52:37

Cinderella, magical story which I loved

pamelaJEAN Sat 14-Sept-19 07:51:59

My favourite fairytale growing up was Song Of The South, "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay. My, oh my, what a wonderful day. Plenty of sunshine headin' my way. Zip-a- dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay. Mister Bluebird's on my shoulder. It's the truth, it's actual. Ev'rything is ..." I can remember dancing around the living room to this lovely song with my grandma , her silver hair in a bun and wrap around pinny, such simplicity those days, many years ago, The animation was beautiful. I don't even know if this is still available?

ChocolateCake1 Sat 14-Sept-19 07:42:44

Cinderella, my favourite part was when Prince Charming chose Cinderella to go to the ball and the pumpkin carriage smile

Hertsgirl75 Sat 14-Sept-19 07:39:57

I loved Puss and Boots as he shows his plucky and enterprising spirit and helps his poor hapless master to climb the social ladder. However thinking about it now, his scheming is somewhat questionable!

karenorford Sat 14-Sept-19 07:31:19

The Little Red Hen - a great story with a moral tale to promote good work ethics.

flossy1973 Sat 14-Sept-19 07:28:47

I loved little red riding hood! I used to be scared but excited when grandma is the wolf!!!

Anja Sat 14-Sept-19 07:24:50

Yes, the Ugly Duckling. I lived in hope!

glenka Sat 14-Sept-19 07:23:34

Cinderella, I can't remember why I liked iI but that was the best one for me.

ricola Sat 14-Sept-19 07:02:53

Hazel and Gretel because I loved the thought of the sweety cottage!

Michelleoliver Sat 14-Sept-19 07:00:53

I loved the story of Hansel and Gretel and would wish I would come across a house made of sweets whilst in the woods.

Lorelei Sat 14-Sept-19 06:59:40

I loved all the fairy tales, but if I had to pick a favourite I'd probably plump for 'Cinderella' as I always liked that she got to get all glammed up for the ball and had the prince fall in love with her, whilst her step-sisters (uglier on the inside than their ugly appearance) just got to stew and seethe after mistreating Cinders. Similar reasons as to why I enjoyed Roald Dahl - loved the spoiled brats getting their come-uppance in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' while the most deserving little lad got to inherit. Even in adult books I always like to see Karma bite the rotten characters hard on the butt at some stage!

alabaster Sat 14-Sept-19 06:28:39

Jack and the Beanstalk. Lots of twists and turns - in the plant and in the plot!

toffee11 Sat 14-Sept-19 05:34:22

Hansel and Gretel - scary and creepy but loved the idea of the gingerbread house.

Alima Sat 14-Sept-19 05:27:14

Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Can still picture Baby Bear eating the porridge.
