It has to be the Normandy Beaches. The reverence with which all the soldiers are held and honoured is just so humbling. Their Graves are beautifully kept by the War Commission. The honour and pride we and their parents felt whilst we were there will never leave us. We owe such a huge debt to these brave soldiers, they must never be forgotten.

I would take them to the Scottish highlands and islands. the beaches are some of the best in the world and the diversity of amazing wildlife and great hikes would appeal to them.

Borneo, both my grandsons share my love of animals especially the Orangutan.

My little grandsons 4 and 6 have actually promised that when they pass their driving test, they are going to drive Gran to Borneo in a Purple Camper van smile

One way or another I have my fingers crossed that we will at some point visit Borneo together.
Here's hoping and praying that these beautiful animals will still around and no longer on the endangered list.?

I would take them to New Zealand to visit their aunts, uncles and cousins!

I’d take them to Scotland and go by rail. The scenery is breathtaking and the hospitality wonderful. We have been watching The Worlds Most Beautiful Railway, so they know how beautiful it is.

I would take them to Venice. It is a magical city and is where I spent my 50th birthday with my 3 DDs. The GC have often looked at the pictures from that holiday and would I know love to go there with me.

It would have to be Niagara falls.

I would take them to Lanzarote as the climate is perfect for small children, the beach is safe and fun. The level coastal path means I could push the pushchair round easily. The journey time is not too long for my small Grandchildren to spend on the plane. How lovely it would be.

I would take my grandchildren to the theatre as much as possible.

I would pack the best picnic ever and get a huge blanket to make a shelter and take them into a field and share the same magic my Grandma shared with me made up stories and adventures. We don’t need to go far to find adventures.

I would love to take my 3 grandsons to Denmark. My late husband's mother was Danish and my husband really cherished his Danish roots, also, I have never been there so would be an adventure for me as well.

I would take them to Austria to experience the beautiful mountains, clean air, soft water and peace.

My grand daughter absolutely loved the programme orang utan school on TV - last year for Christmas we sponsored a baby at the school and we get regular updates from the charity. If we could visit the school in Indonesia she would be over the moon

Froglady Mon 07-Oct-19 11:16:42

I would take them to a place called Puy Brum in the Dordogne/Lot areas where their great grandparents spent a month each summer camping. They never knew them but to go an area that they loved so much might generate a link for them.

vickyg88 Mon 07-Oct-19 10:35:01

I would take them to York. It's full of history and it's such a stunning city!

JessK Mon 07-Oct-19 10:16:34

To Rwanda to see the gorillas so they can appreciate what gentle giants they are and what we would loose if we are not careful.

Hatpev Mon 07-Oct-19 09:05:31

I would take my grandchildren to the lovely cottage we used to go to in the Scottish border hills. It is at the top of a valley where the road ends. There is a stream next to it where they can paddle and play. The only sounds there are the water, the sheep and the birds. No Wi-fi available. Just oodles of peace.

MrRichTea Mon 07-Oct-19 00:58:07

I would take them to Japan, to show them culture, beauty & technology

Once they're old enough, I'd take them back to the National Parks I loved to visit in the USA in my 20s - particularly Bryce Canyon.

hellymart Sun 06-Oct-19 21:57:06

I would take them on safari in Tanzania! A great adventure for me and them.

pennwood Sun 06-Oct-19 21:56:05

MrsT Sun 06-Oct-19 21:48:10

Halki a tiny island off the coast of Rhodes where we spent idyllic summers with our daughters when they were small. Would love to make a whole generation of new memories

buntybaby Sun 06-Oct-19 21:25:16

I would take them to Seaview on the Isle of Wight. It is where we took our children and they still have fond memories of our times in Seaview and it would be lovely to introduce the next generation to the simple pleasures of a UK beach holiday.

thingamaBob Sun 06-Oct-19 21:15:02

I'd take them to Disneyland California
