It is not a game as such but my Grandad made me wooden stilts when I was small and I played on them all the time and cherished them.

Going on all the rides at the local fair ,eating brandy snap ,toffee apples and pomegranates ,and bopping to the great songs they played on the waltzers ,caterpillar, and the cake-walk ! And the sideshows were amazing !The rides were only a few pence each then -now they cost more than a tenner ! And the music is awful!

I loved my chalks, and I loved chalking patterns on my wooden top and then whipping it to send it spinning to reveal the unique pattern

We loved playing Bagatelle with a wooden stick for pushing the ball bearings round a wooden board with open circles of nails into which we had to try to hit the ball bearings. It was very tricky but gave us hours of fun?

I used to play scraps with my nanna, if I tell anyone now, though, they have no idea what I’m talking about!

Loved playing Jacks, which were little spiky metal things. You bounced a ball and picked up the same number of jacks as bounces. Used to sit out on the pavement and play! As an only child, I wasn’t often allowed to ‘play out’, so just loved being out with other kids

Hours of endless summer fun with my sisters playing hopscotch in my Nana's back yard; one chalk pebble to scratch the numbered squares, and one empty shoe polish tin for kicking onto the squares to mark our place each go.

My dad used to dress up as Father Christmas and come into my room and wake me up, then he would carry me into my 3 brothers bedroom and he would give us our stockings and chat to us, then he would say he had to go and that our presents were under the tree downstairs but that we mustn’t come out of the room until we heard his sleigh bells. He would then go back to their room and he would hide his outfit and then my mum would jingle two forks together to make the sound of the sleigh bells, and we would come running out of the room - and so began our Christmas Day xxx

I used to love playing marbles. We had a whole area of soil under some trees in the school playground that had been well worn into a marble patch, with runs and holes etc, we would spend hours after school playing.

Loved my childhood. We lived outside from dawn till dusk going home only when we were hungry. Riding bikes, building dens, climbing trees, picking mushrooms/blackberries etc. Everything was an adventure.

On a weekend we would play card games for hours. In the evening we would go to the shop to pick a chocolate bar and packet of sweets. We would then all sit and watch a film together. Simple but enjoyable.

Scraps. I had been given a book in a lovely green linen cover for my birthday when I was about 10. The book was Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It was the first book I ever read myself and I treasured that book so much.
Then I discovered Scraps! Little paper pictures of all sorts of weird and wonderful things: Cherub angels, Father Chrisitmas, flowers, babies, crinolined ladies, birds, fairies - the list goes on. We would swap them at school and try to make 'sets' of every scrap available on each topic.
And I kept all my scraps in my beloved Alice in Wonderland book which I read over and over.
Lovely memories.

Walking to the library with my Grandad; after showing clean hands to the librarian I was then able to choose my own books. Also sitting in front of the fire with him while he taught me card tricks and showed me how he could blow smoke out of his ears and produce a penny from behind my ear.
