As a child I lived in a small village and local children of mixed ages played together. I have many fond memories of building go karts from old prom wheels and bits of wood and racing them along the street
Playing Two ball in the wall, spinning and throwing the ball under your leg, as you say the rhyme e.g. Cups and saucers set for tea, how many were there 123 and turning as you there the ball against the wall, catching it as you turned happy hours..
Making dens was my favourite pastime, be it under the table with a couple of sheets in winter or out in the garden or local woods in summer. Had to have something to sit on and tea towel for table cloth, bowl and beaker, dollies and a good book to curl up and read in my little 'home' if I could take a jam sandwich and beaker of squash (Tupperware )with me, even better.
I used to love playing in the fields and fishing for tiddlers in the dyke, my friend s and I would build dens, we would try and bake potatoes on a small bonfire, they would end up black and still solid of course. When it was bailing time new dens were constructed and we ended up with very sore land scratched limbs. Happy times.
Walking through all our local parks with my year 1 friends trying to find evidence that Autumn has arrived. We filled our bags with loads of conkers, dried leaves and cones!
I used to love stamp collecting, getting mum and dads friends to save them for me from all over the world. This got me into learning about the different countries and gave me the thirst for travel which now I am retired I am doing as often as possible.
Playing Ludo - we had so many hours of fun with this simple game. My husband and I even started playing again as adults with our friends - its good fun after a couple of drinks
