Clearing the dining table, putting up a net and playing ping-pong! Mum and Dad were really good - us three girls would have the ping pong balls shooting everywhere!

I was a child in the early 50s. We lived next door to my Nan, who was just perfect, I loved her to bits and still think of her with such fondness. She used to grow the most beautiful flowers in her long narrow garden, and would always pick a big bunch of bright dahlias, gypsophila, chrysanthemums, and beautiful greenery, on a Monday morning, for me to give to my teacher, who would have them on her desk all the week. My Nan was a very kind and special Lady, ?

I used to love playing at the local playground backing onto our house with my friends, armed with some sweet treats and our bikes, should we want to venture further. I also loved playing marbles, conkers and hopscotch with my brother in our garden.

As a little girl I loved making models from balsa wood with my older brother. We used to buy a pack of wood with our pocket money and I got the bits he didn’t want! Using a craft knife and gluing all added to the excitement. I still love crafting and using my modelling skills.

Two balls against the wall, or roller skating. Still got it now.

Chinese ropes. We played it at home and in the playground. I even really enjoyed building them from elastic bands.

Spent lots of time playing Doublers and learning the rhymes, we were always trying to get the most counts or the most one handies.

I loved playing Frustration. I loved it because my dad used to play it with me. x

Picnics by the river and playing on the steppingstones brilliant family times.

Just simple skipping with a long bit of rope used to tie it on the lamp post outside our house we had ours of fun playing skipping games

One Christmas I got potters wheel and I loved Making pots and painting them , Even at school I love pottery I always was amazed how they looked when they came out of the kiln.

So many, playing marbles at school and once the local dairy gave out a massive marble with milk orders that we kids dubbed 'pinta' you knew you had arrived if you won that from someone.

Mum making me egg mayonnaise sandwiches and then me and my friends going out all day cycling around the countryside making sure we were back for tea. No mobile phones then to check up on where we were. Oh, the freedom. Shame my son couldn't have the same luxury.

I look back on Beetle drives at our local church hall. Lots of fun!

I played for hours and hours with my Dinky Toys - I wish I had kept them pristine instead of painting them

I had a Bayko building set and I loved designing and building houses. (No,I didn’t grow up to be an architect!)
When I was a bit older I liked going out on my bike with my best friend and just riding around for hours.
In school we liked playing hopscotch (we got told off for drawing hopscotch pitches on the netball/tennis courts) and we used to tie our school scarves together and skip with them if none of us had a skipping rope handy.

My fondest memories are sitting next to a campfire in Silverdale cooking our beans and sausage. In the morning our dad would bring fresh milk from the nearby farm, still warm and tasting wonderful. We walked to a nearby village for groceries and slept in a big bell tent with a big family group, trying not to notice the spiders crawling up the inside

building houses and dens! we were fortunate to live in the country and had so much freedom, myself and my siblings and the kids next door used to go all over setting up camp! Happy memories

I lived on a housing estate & there was always plenty going on & loads of friends to enjoy my childhood with. Games of marbles, collecting shells on the beach, games of elastic & statues & awaiting the daily visit of the ice cream van all added to the fun

Fishing in the brook with a jam jar attached to a strong stick with a long piece of string, catching tadpoles and sticklebacks!

My friends and I used to tie a rope to the lamppost and one 0f us turned the rope from the other side of the road and we would one after another join in to skip. Sometimes we would have as many as 10 skipping together, whoever missed judged their jump had to take over turning the rope. I taught my grandchildren to skip, it's good fun and keeps you fit.

We spent our summers on our grandparents' farm in the far West of Ireland. It was like another world – we ran barefoot all day with our tribe of cousins, paddled in the sea, fetched water from the spring, helped with the harvest, churned butter, dug for cockles and winkles in the sand, collected eggs and learned to milk cows. It's a way of life that's completely vanished now, and I'm so grateful for those happy memories.

I fondly remember playing Scrabble with my sister when I was a child. She is 9 years older then me and at first she always beat me but it wasn’t long until I started beating her! Then I really enjoyed playing!! ?

My favourite game was called Going Shopping in the Garden. The elder of my brothers is over 10 years older than I am, he'd wear his white woodwork overall and pretend to be the shopkeeper, using tins and packages from Mum's kitchen and I'd go shopping in the back garden with one of Mum's shopping bags. I loved it cos was only time I can remember my bigger brother joining in any of my games, I'd join in with cricket and football and get in the way, lol but this was a game where he actually joined in on my terms. Looking back I really think to have done this when he was 13/14 was a really big deal as I was still very young, it made me feel so grown up.
