It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

I'd be very happy to find Gino D'Acampo under my Christmas tree! He's not only charming and hilarious but has the skills to prepare an amazing Christmas dinner for myself and family. We'd be able to relax, put our feet up, and feast our eyes on the creation presented to us!! On Gino or our Christmas dinner? I'll leave you to make your own decision about what we'll be feasting our eyes on!!

Jamie Oliver, then I can sit back and relax and he can do the cooking.

I would like to find my 15 year old grandson who lives 120 miles away and who has recently been diagnosed with Autism. He hasn't been to school since he was 12 and has become so anxious that he rarely leaves his house.

I would like to find my Nana. When I was a child she always gave me the most treasured gifts. She always worked hard for little reward. I didn't realise at the time. I would like to thank her from the bottom of my heart.

I would like to find David Gilmour with his guitar as his guitar playing is just sublime and he has reduced me to tears many times with the beauty of his playing. I am a failed guitar player myself, so I know just how hard it is to play to the standard as he does. I love Pink Floyd.

Lucasmema Wed 27-Nov-19 14:38:33

I would like to have a funny answer but what is coming to me is that I would like to find myself as a little child under the tree. I would hug her and would spend time talking to her and I would tell her that everything will, eventually one day be okay and that she is so loved and is going to do many great things in her life but that she has to always remember and make time for fun and to look and find something beautiful in each day to remind her as she gets older that whilst she knows pain exists beauty exists too and it is possible to live with both side by side and opening her heart to the beauty she finds will help heal the pain she feels. Then I would give her three of her favourite things ; a Cadbury’s selection box, an Enid blyton book and a tracksuit ( she loved playing football ) and I would let her go then.

I would like to find my Dad, lost him over 20 years ago, and he never got to meet my children - know he would be very proud of them both, xx miss you.

susieqt Wed 27-Nov-19 09:06:45

My Mum - she's had to go into a nursing home and as she is now immobile I can't visit her anywhere else - how wonderful it would be to treat her to a Christmas like we used to have.

I’ve been pondering and pondering. So many people from history I’d love to meet and talk with. So many politicians that I’d like to find out what they’re really like. So many hunky film stars. But one way or another they’d all upset Christmas Day completely.

So it has to be my grandad who died when I was just nine. He died too soon and I’d love to have known him better - and he could help unravel my family tree as his side is very, well, complicated!

Bella99 Wed 27-Nov-19 07:28:47

Christmas Day? Under the tree? It's a no-brainer. It has to be Kim Woodburn. If she's under the tree you can bet she is doing the vacuuming and getting rid of all those errant needles!

julietk Wed 27-Nov-19 07:14:02

Would love to find Mozart under my Christmas tree, because I'd love to learn more about music from him...
