It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

I would like to find Bradley Walsh under my tree as he would make the whole family laugh, take part in our after dinner quiz and as he is also a great actor he could help my team win charades

My mum & dad who both passed many years ago. I would love for them to see what good people all their grandchildren have become x

Eva Meijer, one of the authors whose books are included in the prize, because she’s an expert on animal langagues. I’d love to find out more about what my chickens are saying, who make 20 different noises, but I can only understand about 8. She sounds like a fascinating person and a fellow animal lover.

I'd like to find a new board game that the family could all play with no disputes - we're avid board game fans at Christmas but there's a bit or argy bargy over playing by the rules!

I would love to find Alexander McCall Smith under the tree. He'd be a lovely, interesting and entertaining Christmas guest who'd repay one's hospitality with wonderful yarns, and leave everyone feeling full of optimism and kindness. Just what we all need for the coming year.

I’d have my mother free of her crutches, sticks and walking aids and back all singing and dancing after having a hip replacement during the middle of November. I have a whole separate wish list of the books I would like for Christmas, but my mum feeling confident and safe on her feet would mean the world to me.

I would love to find my dad under the Christmas tree. He died when I was 6 over 54 years ago. I would like the time to catch up with him and introduce my amazing husband and children. I can’t remember a Christmas with him and it would be lovely to have this time for the memory bank!

Buddy2010 Wed 20-Nov-19 20:32:27

I would love to have the chance to see my parents , my in laws and my favourite aunt all sadly departedunder my tree so they could have the opportunity to meet my lovely grandchildren and my children now grown up. This would be a fantastic Christmas party, Christmas is about remininiscing and creating new memories. The prize would also be fantastic as I am retiring in the new year and looking forward to having time to read.
