It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

I'd like to find my Mum under the tree, the way she was when she was 50, before Alzheimers stole her away. Christmas was always better with her there, laughing and being happy

I'd love to find a lovely cosy cottage under our Christmas tree. Why? Basically so we can have our own peaceful place without severe damp spots and it would be our forever home

I’d like to find Tim Minchin. There might not be the sun he’s used to at Christmas, but there’d be plenty of white wine!

That would be amazing

Would love to find those of my family who are no longer with us. Parents, much missed sister and much loved first born. Would make my Christmas perfect.

I'd love to find my 18 year old daughter under the tree. Since her teenage hormones kicked in, she doesn't like family time, and avoids it at all costs. Where is that sweet, my little pony loving, hair in bunches with a pretty dress, cute as a button, girl gone???confused

John Denver's ghost - gone much too soon and such a lovely guy with happy songs and a beautiful voice

I'd love to see my missing gt grandfather, Walter Scott to find out why he disappeared in 1905 - and is there more family that I don't know about for the family tree.

David Attenborough. I have adored him ever since I saw Zoo Quest as a child, and now even in his nineties he is a source of inspiration around the world. Would we be really aware of the horror of plastics if it weren't for him?

I would love to find Billy Connolly under the tree. He'd be a real laugh over the festive season with his stories and jokes.

Sandrajoy Thu 21-Nov-19 06:38:57

Bradley Walsh, because he makes me laugh and we all need laughter in our lives

I would love the immortal Tommy Cooper under the Christmas Tree this year to entertain the family and make Christmas a riot Just like that.

Oceana8 Thu 21-Nov-19 01:42:46

I would like to have my Poppy schnoodle under the Xmas tree - of course she would most likely be trying to eat the tree!! I get so much pleasure watching her open (well rip open with her mouth and claws ) her presents.

The young(ish) Grace Kelly. As she was possibly the most beautiful woman of all time - and to ask if she remembers our previous meeting outside Harrods...

I would like to see two of my best friends who have passed away to ask them what it was like in heaven and would they do it all again. I believe in reincarnation so would ask who they were going to be in their next lives. But if they couldn't talk I would just like to be with them again so they could know my love for them.
