It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

Bradley Walsh, as he has a great personality, seems easy-going, and would make me laugh.

I'd love to find my mom under the Christmas tree, as she will insist on spending Christmas day alone.

I’d love to wake up on the 25th Dec to find that Santa has delivered my mother back to me in full health. Sadly she is at late stage Alzheimer’s - I miss just how much fun my mother was in years gone by........ that would be very nice indeed x

My partner, Robert. Every year I spend Christmas at his care home where he needs 24 hour nursing care because he has terrible breathing problems.
We would love to spend a Christmas together alone, and to find him under my tree would be the best present I could hope for.

I would so love to have my grandson under the tree, have not seen him for over 4 years and miss him so much, and wish his mum would recognise that family is important to children even when relationships break up.

I'd love to find Anne Frank under my tree. I could tell her that millions of people throughout the world have read her diaries and that they will never forget what she and her family went through.
I've read them several times both in childhood and adulthood and each time I have felt that I lived through these darkest of times in the attic with them all.
I also visited the attic in Amsterdam and felt so emotional.
Yes, I would be so happy to. Find her under my tree.

I would love a little chat with the Dalai Lama, his brand of peace and joy are exceptional. I would love to know how he has managed to deal with exile and the anger he must have or still has felt for his people and his country. His wisdom is something to be marvelled at, I feel I could learn a lot.

My Grandma, I recently got interested in my family tree, and she could answer so many questions that I can’t find the answers to.

I would love to find my Mum under the tree - my Dad passed away 2 month ago and the first Christmas on her own will be hard. As she is in Germany and we are here in Scotland we are far apart. Would love to help her through this.

I would love to find my mum under the tree. She died too young over 40 years ago. We all still miss her and I would love to be able to talk to her and ask her for advice.

Tamd Wed 20-Nov-19 17:03:07

I would like my mum and dad, both passed away, so they can spend time with their great grandkids who Dad has never met and Mum with the latest named after her.

A bundle of books under the tree would be perfect to share with all the family.

Ludwig van Beethoven! I would ask him to play Piano Concerto Number 5, ‘The Emperor’, just for me.

Hellsbelles Wed 20-Nov-19 16:54:51

Other than family members passed .
Perhaps to keep it about books Charles Dickens could tell a festive tale of two, and give us an insight to life as it was.
